My C4S originally had TechArt sideskirts, front lip and small rear wing when I purchased it used last July. Since then, I've changed the rear decklid for a turbo one, as well as installing the aero front bumper and lip. Now, I'm planning on changing the sideskirts. The sideskirts on the car now are not for a C4...theyre for a C2. The original owner had them installed anyway and the shop (or dealership) used white caulking to make it fit. This is bothersome for many reasons. One, it looks cheap. Two, the caulking is becoming stained. Three (and most irritating), I can't change the yellowed rock guards because they're covered by the sideskirts and the caulking, so they have to be removed.
My question is, do I go forward and get the correct parts from TechArt and have them painted (around $1700 after shipping and paint) or do I go with the GT2 rocker panels (around $1200 after shipping and paint)? Any advice or help is appreciated.

Not a fan of TechArt side skirts, they look exaggerated. Just removing the skirts and taking off the yellow rock guards will clean up your car considerably.

Yeah I did earlier today...that's what prompted me to do a little research. I think that looks awesome, but being that my car is white and the front lip on the aero kit is also painted, the GT2 rockers would be a nice OEM addition. TechArt stuff is awesome, and I'm happy that I bought the car with the parts on, but I think it's just a bit too much. Furthermore, if I have to change them, why do the same thing someone else had on the car?
And be sure the shop knows that when painting the lowers they cannot use the standard formula - it will reflect light differently and must be tinted to make it work. We do this all the time, and you'd be amazed at so many shops painting standard formulation then customers wonder why they don't match.

Eric...tinting the paint in what manner? I mean, I know that there are various other colors that are mixed in with certain paint colors to change the hues slightly, but how do you suggest I instruct them to do this?

Yea what he said. I also have a white car and am curious. Interesting stuff.
Although I normally like TechArt's upgrades (Formula wheels, Magnum Cayenne package, etc), I'm not a fan of those sides as they don't tie into the front or rear bumpers well. Go the GT2 skirt route to clean things up.
Aero packages should tie together and be homogeneous throughout the car. As an example, look at my RUF setup where the character line from the front bumper continues through the side skirts and up into line in the rear bumper. Without this type of consistency, it looks like random pieces put together
Same deal with the Factory Aero kit, which looks good as well, for the same reasons.
Pete, I totally agree with you (and everyone else that shares the same feeling)...then again, your car is pretty **** hot and one of the nicest 911's I've ever seen.
