Default looking for the greatest roads ever...

just looking at a post by high wind and noticed his avatar is a great pic of the wide open spaces of, and i am assuming here, south africa....awesome pic...so thought to start a thread as to where are some of the best places to comfortably drive at you own chosen speed without big brother's prying eyes making one uncomfortable....y'know, like stretches of great open spaces where there just...aren't, speed traps, lurking lawmen, or, ahh, generally...people....i'm thinking maybe most of south africa...never having been, i wouldn't know...about there and many other parts of the world...living in germany i am afforded the dubious pleasure of many unrestricted kilometers of autobahn, but that gets old surprisingly fast(heh heh, see what i did there...?) i will just throw in the best driving area i have encountered in many years actually has been just about all of spain...the country having benefitted from many many euros in the last decade or so for many many km's of wonderful much improved roads...the pyrenees are like every day is christmas day ...and nary an officer of the law to be found, especially when you don't need one...anyway, other good roads out there...? pics are good...

I like Smokey Mountain, US roads. This clip shows roads driven just north of Atlanta.

Porsche has an App and Microsite called GTS Communities.

Using the App, you can 'record' your favorite roads. Here's a few examples in my neck of the woods:
Here's some related links:

I'm very fortunate to have some awesome roads to drive here in Colorado. I've also been fortunate to drive many great roads in Europe, including Stelvio Pass and a few others. One of favorites is the Million Dollar Highway in Colorado. This is technically US 550 between Silverton and Ouray. It's spectacular. Below are a few shots from the fall color tour that my wife and I took in the 997 turbo in 2016, as well as a shot from spring of 2017 in the 991 turbo S on US 103 near Squaw Pass.

Transfagarasan. Made a trip over (unrelated to driving) and unfortunately it was still closed for the winter at the time. Will be wanting to make that one in my own car sooner or later.
