Default For PDK, does GTS really better than S?

I am likely giving up the idea of getting a good 993 as wife really wants a more modern car, and she likes the 997. We test drove a couple of S and 4S and they drive really well. Does GTS drive different? $20k different for the same mileage?

Is an S better than a base? Is a 911 better than a Cayman? Is alcantara better then leather? Is PDK better than a manual? Racing Yellow better than Guards Red?

There are some questions that just depend on what YOU value and prefer...

Lots of nice options bundled into the GTS, and they seem to hold their value better.

That depends on what you see value in? I drive a 2011 GTS w/PDK .

I picked it up for $64K and it was worth the premium to me at the time over an S.

Others don't see it that way, but every situation is different. Only you can know what boxes need to be checked to be satisfied.

Drive a base car without all the electronics and all wheel drive, for me it had that Porsche "feeling"

If .2 of a second matters to you, go with an S or Turbo

took the words out of my mouth. 2011 GTS w/PDK. Picked it up for $63.5k. Very worth the money at the time. Right then the difference was $10k or less. 997 S/991 S were not on the table after driving them.

I had a beautiful narrow body 997.2 (C2S), in my favorite color, GT Silver. Absolutely loved it. Great car. Light and lean and mean. I paid a lot of money to upgrade to my coveted GTS. I have zero regrets, whatsoever. In my opinion, the GTS is greater than the sum of its parts. It's even more emotive and special than the already excellent C2S. The unique-for-Carreras wide body + rear drive configuration; the small but special GTS bits, like the center lock wheels, the blacked out trim, the Alcantara interior; the low production numbers, all add up to a very special car. Mechanically speaking, a manual 997.2 GTS is identical to the much rarer 997.2 Sport Classic (wide body, RWD, X51, SPASM, etc.). I truly believe the original 911 Carrera GTS, meaning the 997.2 GTS, will be counted as one of the greatest Carreras, in years to come.
