really anal oil pressure question

really **** oil pressure question
997.2, S Cab. Great car. No complaints. 40k miles.
Compared to the 993 I owned, the oil pressure reads exactly at the "must be at least mark" at 5000 rpm and will go no further if more rpm are applied. 3.5 on the nose. Using 5-40 Mobil 1. Haven't tried this with 5-50.
My 993 would show above its "at least" mark under same conditions particularly if revved over 5k- fully warmed up etc. I think I was using 20-50 Mobil 1 then, however.
Do you guys ever see more than 3.5 oil pressure in your 997s?
Best,
Charlie

997.2's use an on-demand system. So oil pressure is no longer directly tied to rpm. It a factor of rpm & engine load (and a few other smaller variables). So what you're seeing is fairly typical.
This system exist in order to provide appropriate oil pressure for the conditions AND (the big AND) is efficiency. Less pumping means less resistance which means greater efficiency (hp & mpg).

thanks. Sounds right on.
Note to other post- I used 20-50 in the 993 given that the car was garaged and never started below 50 degrees. Old-time wrench recommended for that car. Of course would not do for 997 under any circumstances.

Also uses no oil
btw, this car is anamolous in that it uses Zero oil between changes (typically 3k miles). Cannot detect any drop in oil level readings, doing it correctly, etc. Have seen posts of owners with considerable, but within spec, oil consumption. Not mine.
