Burnt smell after new exhaust install ?
Is it normal to have a burnt smell after install new exhaust? I jacked my car on one side & the car sits for about 6 hrs. I shoulda jack both side but I got lazy. After done installing the new cans, I started the car & noticed a puff of smoke out of the right tailpipe. And now both pipes has a burnt smell when I take the car for a spin. Hope I didn't F-something up.

Yes
more likely than not its burning off oil and other coating material used in the welding and preserving prior to packing and shipping. It will burn off.

Is there a jack stand under there somewhere in addition to the jack?

Thanks, they're Agency Power. New stainless steel tips on the way to match. I had them on my 996 & love the sound so might as well get one for the 997. That's what I thought too about the puff of smoke when the car was tilted for about 6 hrs. I used a scissor jack for backup. After a few days of driving which was not far, I can still smell the burning. Guess I should take it out for a long drive this weekend.

Just installed some fisters on my 997.2 with a Sharkwerks centerbypass (that was installed previously) and definitely got a very distinct burny/smoky smell. Wasn’t sure if it was an exhaust leak and then saw this thread. Assume it’s ok to drive for a couple days to let it heat cycle a few times and settle in? First time doing my own exhaust work so I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect.
