Anybody have a stock intake for 06 3.8 FS?
So, I've got an '06 997 S that came with Fabspeed intake. Of course, it screams at redline and probably adds a few HP. I have a couple of reasons for wanting a stock intake:
1. I have a 1,500 foot gravel driveway and suspect the stock intake would pull air from the top and suck less dust.
2. Wifey understands that I need to lubricate the IMS, but says the sound hurts her ears.
3. I prefer not to draw attention while accelerating.
So, if anyone has a complete stock intake sitting around please feel free to contact me.
Thanks in advance!

Fitment question for the Brain Trust?
Big thanks to Halo 777.Just wanted to make sure the intake from a 2008 C4S will fit my 06 997 C2S. Can anyone confirm? Otherwise, I'll just have to swap cars with the guy!

They appear to be the same (Check this comparison eBay link)
If you and Halo777 can't strike a deal, I've got one in my garage, out of my 06 C2S I've been sitting on in case the SMOG COPS come one day, but I figure we're in the clear on that for a few more years now that there's a new sheriff in town.

The Fabspeed intake you describe is their older J-Pipe version as opposed to the Y-Pipe version in the photo. I tried both of theirs and my car actually runs better with the J-Pipe, but I have other factors in play (forced induction, active aero spoiler hydraulics, etc). Is this what yours looks like? Is it CF or the earlier metal pipe design?

Comanche_699 do you still have your stock airbox for the 997....I am working on registering an 07 Targa 4S from Texas that has the full FabSpeed Intake and Exhaust....I have everything including the smog certificate but I am concerned the Final VIN check at DMV might require popping the engine lid and exposing my obviously not stock intake. I would feel better if upon opening it looked stock from the top...Does any know if DMV bothers with that for an out of state vehicle registration??? Thanks!!!

Update from OP
Since my cervical fusion, I don't crawl under cars much. Lucky for me, Petza was at Road Atlanta and pointed out that I have the full Fabspeed intake and exhaust. Although wifey was impressed and could hear me coming, it's still pretty loud. I'm thinking just changing to a stock intake would be a pretty stupid idea and not make it much quieter. Others' experiences?

Thanks, Pete. BTW macassar handbrake adds about 10 HP.
Might be worth the trade-off. Car and wife are both keepers; more so the wife!

My advise is to find a Porsche specialty shop that has a smog test station that THEY recommend (wink, wink). You’ll probably be just fine with the Fabspeed intake as well.
Otherwise you will spend $$ just to pass visual. Also, every two years, you get to do it again.
