maybe it is not a matter of 0/40 vs 5/40 but M1 vs Motul?

Post his name. He probably isn't skilled enough to actually disassemble the motor, so he just goes "oh your engine is dead" without actually doing any work on it.

IMS failure is never a big deal until it happens to you.

Cams - he has FIA 935 cars sent to him - i'm fairly certain he can handle the M96/97

so of those thousands of porsches, how many are aircooled?

If he's only seen three he either doesn't get much water cooled business or he's not looking hard enough.

I didn't conduct a survey, i'm passing the professional opinion of a very smart lifelong Porsche independent who also provides support for Porsche race teams and services cars from all over the country.

Class action lawsuit you guys cite??

Did you guys know a major respected law firm just yesterday filed a class action lawsuit against Ford Motor because Shelby GT350 owners who didn't pay up for the track or R editions are now angry they can't do track days (with their leather and nav) - another frivolous money grab. It's out of control.

In fact a bill was passed by house Republicans this month to help curb this problem in America....

That's a good point on the core but how do I know that a new core is any better.
You won't have to worry about that. Its up to me, if I am building the engine. Its rolled into the cost. This core only had a failed IMS Bearing, we are throwing away all the pieces that saw collateral damage from that. No worries.

Also, if you have some ideas and prices on engine rebuilds please PM me.
I'll post it here. With my core engine being provided, my Stage II Track Performer (the entry level track worthy engine) would be 25K complete. That includes extraction, and installation, dyno, and full break- in procedure. (no, its not cheaper if you already made a bad decision and had someone else remove the old engine!!! :-)

That is what I asked my race shop to do.
You need an engine specialist. A race shop builds race cars, and they do a good job at that (most of which is NOT engine related these days) I have every part you need memorized, most are my own, and I rattle off every part # by heart for the entire engine. I can't build a race car worth a damn, though. There's a reason for that, and you don't want to learn it the hard way.
Everything from a stock rebuild to 3.8 and even considering a GT3 engine.
If you want a GT3 engine; buy a GT3. The conversion to do this isn't straight forward, and you'll wish you'd listened later.
All probably cost more than the car at this point but I just love that car.
Its a Porsche. A real engine is always worth as much as the car, I saw it with aircooled cars for the first 20 years of my life.
BTW...oil was fresh with less than 500 miles on it.
Thats not fresh oil. My rule is an oil change the day before an event, then another after that event. Let me guess, you were using Mobil 1?

Don't be like this guy. I have about 20 of them per year, and they never learn from the "other guy's" mistakes.

Read the testimonial... I get the better shop part. No doubt on that. Help me understand your comments and what was noted in the testimonial on mobile 1.
