Would You let some one else Drive on track?
#16
Personally, I wouldn't have any problem letting someone drive the car. I loan my car out frequently and have let my buddies / brother run it double duty at many track events. It's a car to be enjoyed. Have them get track insurance for the event and let 'em go. It doesn't always come back 100%. But, as the old saying goes, your friends and family are usually the only ones that break your stuff because you don't loan it out to strangers.
5 laps aren't going to hurt a Porsche. And a pro driver is less likely to chew up a car anyway. Even 8 tenths will seem fast to a novice.

My definition of lapping hierarchy below:
Parade laps which are run at about 40-60%
Warm-up laps at about 60-80%
Practice laps at about 80-90%
Hot laps* 90-101%**
*also available for a stack of $20s at your local gentleman's club
** I realize 101% is not possible but that extra 1% means you are no longer "lapping" and are instead decorating the track with car parts.

A hot lap is when a professional driver, ie one who has raced professionallyin some capacity takes you for one or two laps the way he would drive the car 🚗 close to race conditions yet with no fear of crashing

Let's be honest I'd let Patrick long drive my car, Webber, nick Tandy etc..
I mean who wouldn't let a factory Porsche driver or formula one driver take their car out?
Even if something happened it would be the story of a life time.

I'd let someone I trust take my 911 out for a parade lap, but not go hot lapping. Racing drivers are not especially kind to other people's cars. On the other hand, I would probably let someone I trust take my MINI Cooper S out, as (a) it's track prepared and (b) substantially cheaper to repair or replace.

it depends, i often switch cars wit my friends on a track, but we never go 101%.
I testet a 650whp supra 4 years ago, the engine went falalallala... so i got him a new engine.
But if this is an event, and you'r not driving, hmm.. depends. Id charge atleast 1500 $ + they must cover anything that goes south.

Interesting question and interesting responses.
I would allow if, and only if -
1. I know how good the driver is. There is no guaranty that even a licensed racing driver knows what he is doing. So to determine if the driver is good, the driver must agree to take me as a passenger for two hot laps and then ride as a passenger to give some driving instruction for at least five hot laps with me driving.
2. My car would have to be ready for a track day: new oil, oil filter, new transmission fluid, new brake pads and properly inflated tires for the track.
3. I would charge twice what it costs to do all the things in item #3 since you will want to "freshen" the car after the event (changing transmission fluid should not be necessary).
4. Driver would have to agree to take the car for at least one cool down lap after the hot laps; preferably two.
5. Driver must agree that if he breaks something, he replaces it.
