Default Pcm3 on a 997.1, can it be

997.1 have the pcm 2. Would like to put the pcm3 to make it look originally. Can this be done?

There is a thread in here.....that goes to a UK 911 forum where its been done. So yes. It popped up in here a few weeks ago. It takes skill and patience.....not a simple thing to do and no kit. You have to source all the bits and pieces.

I don't think it's worth the headache. Dynavin makes a PCM replacement with an OEM look which will be a lot cheaper and has more features.

Tim (monster) in the U.K. Has done it to his car. Based on my discussions with him you need

-pcm3 unit
-997.2 Bose amp
-activation codes for pcm (very difficult to acquire from)
-Lower air-con/climate control unit ONLY from a 2009 turbo (the one with 997.2 pcm with 997.1 rear end and metzger engjne - needless to say very rare) in order to get he air conditioning to function properly on a 997.1 car.

Tim will likely chime in when he seems this thread as he's super helpful with everything.

Ha, Ive just been prodded by Michael!

Yes it can be done, I have a 2005 car and have installed it in mine and a few other peoples in the UK now. Everything works including the AC. Its a fiddly project but if your practical it can be done. Activation codes are needed to get certain PCM functions working, but there are ways of reliably obtaining these.

Michael has listed the main items needed, there are other smaller things needed in addition such as the later 997.2 PASM button unit, an interface loom to connect the PCM 3 up to the original wiring loom in car, 997.2 GPS antenna cable and then wiring for the iPod function in the arm rest and the bluetooth handsfree kit.

If anyone wants to give it a go I can talk them through it, or fire away and ask question and I''ll answer them on here.

Here is a pic of mine all installed and working.

[/ QUOTE]
hola buenas
estoy haciendo la concesión a pcm 3
tengo todas las piezas

saludos

Weird thread, even for 2017. Why would you replace one outdated PCM with another outdated PCM?

Wouldn't it no longer be period correct if you change it to something that was never available in that car?

I called it period correct because the 997.1 (2009 models) also had PCM3.0.

Aha, I didn't know that they put PCM3.0 in the end of the 997.1 run.

If anyone wants a PCM 3 to do this, I have one pulled working from my 2010 Cayenne.
