Default 2024 Targa 4 GTS

Looking for some guidance. Slot for Targa 4 GTS has become available for Fall 2024 delivery. Should I take the build or wait for the 992.2? Any idea exactly when the GTS 992.2will start delivering? I feel the market is going to soften a bit and worried this car may not hold value well right before the 992.2 releases.
Build would be right around $200k even

GTS builds are usually the last 2 years of the production cycle, so it will be a long time most likely another 3-4 years before the GTS 992.2 GTS will be available. If you like the GTS Targa I would get it now.
I'm waiting for my GTS Cab - built waiting to be shipped - hopefully by end of May.

congratulations on the GTS Cab! You’re getting close to Delivery day. I’m in the Chicago area, so May delivery is great time of year for delivery! I wasn’t sure if the GTS models were delivered the same year of a facelift. I know when a completely new generation comes out, it takes a while but not sure about a .2 facelift. I would have thought the GTS would start being delivered during the first year of the .2 release.

WTF?

Are you buying the car to drive or to re-sell?

The 992.2 GTS Targa is at least a good 3-4 years out before you even get your hands on one.

You could die in that time.

The world could have another pandemic, and another lockdown.

Or the world could just end because Putin gets twitchy with his trigger finger.

TL;DR buy now, enjoy now, carpe diem x1000

And, by that time, we will have another dozen threads asking the same question that has already been asked a dozen times.

Of course I’m buying the car to drive it and enjoy it, I’m just wondering what others have heard about when the 992.2 GTS will be delivering. I’m curious what others thoughts are on what the .2 will do to the value only because my last build was a $147,000 GTS Cayenne coupe build that I’m being offered $95,000 on trade with only 9,000 miles. I’m aware 911’s hold their value better than a Cayenne. I’m sure I will eventually want to trade this car in the next couple years up to a different model, maybe GT3 or Turbo S.

Why are there so many articles about the new 2025 911 992.2 GTS if you don’t think the GTS models will be available for 3-4 years? If that timeline is accurate, then Hell yes I would have no hesitation to take this build.

Forgive my ignorance if there’s already 12 other threads asking this same question. I personally don’t sit on Rennlist reading all the daily threads, and already searched for similar threads and couldn’t find any. I’m not super familiar with the website as I haven’t really even used it in a couple years. Just figured I’d drop a post and anyone who has any input is helpful in making the decision.

Thank you! What color did you end up going with? This is my current… still a long way until lock. Also considering going with a metallic silver or black..

Since you’re money conscious (as am I), look at the auctions of 992 Targa on BaT. Compare the hammer price to the MSRP.

Use that information to not go ham on options, but stay in a happy medium. That’s the best way not to use lose your ***.

There is a bit of misinformation here. 992.2 GTS is quite imminent. As of last week the current schedule is: 992.2 production starts in July so first European cars should be delivered in late August. I have a GTS 4 cabrio allocated for production in August and delivery in September. This might get a slight delay but not more than a month or two at this point. Configurator is scheduled for week 22.

.2 GTS would be different. 3.6L hybrid engine and 540bhp.

P.S As above get the .1 now if you have to wait more than a year for the .2. because of US dealers and US shipping times.

So they’re going to release all five trim levels at once? That’s interesting.
