Default So I bought the Carmax 911 4S

Checked it all over before and after test drive. Ran and shifted great, some scratches in the finish but nothing deep that I can't polish away. Interior great shape too. Brakes had lots of meat on the pads and rotors were not worn. Had four almost new Hancock tires on it in the right sizes, with the rims showing no problems either. Was able to find out the services were all done and new clutch was done while back. So I took it home with me. Got the Carmax warrenty for 5 years up to 70k miles for 2900. Car has 29k miles now. It covers all items except wear items and al work is done at Porsche dealer. So it worked out, I'll add pics later after I detail it some this evening. Good to have that 911 feeling again,

Congratulations! what year is the car?
Good for you getting the warranty, that takes a big load off knowing expensive items are covered during the honeymoon period.

Congratulations. I mentioned in your other post that I got my car from carmax over a year ago, and was very happy with the whole process. I did not get a warranty, however, but so far the car has been fine. I did get it checked out within the 5 day return policy, and everything was A-OK with the car.

Price for mine was high retail, but for me, worth it for a car that was a targa, wasn't black, silver, or white, and had only 13,500 miles on it.

Good luck with yours. Post up some pics.

Does Carmax own it's warranty company or do they do like most dealers and sell you a warranty that is run and operated by a separate company? When I purchased my 911 from Autonation, I bought a warranty but they didn't own that company and that company denied my car for coverage because it was considered a specialty vehicle. I therefore had to jump through hoops to get my money back, took 4 months.

Long story short, I had called the warranty company to make a claim and they notified me that my 911 was not in there system. The dealer took my money but didn't even bother telling me that the warranty company denied coverage for my car. Had I not known, they would have kept the money.

Good point, I have used the warranty from carmax here in tx several times with our Nissan.. It was a 3rd party company that carmax sells.. Since the 911 might be considered too expensive to cover for some warranty companies, if I was the OP I would look thru the paperwork and call the warranty company to confirm coverage. As frank discovered, a dealer may sell a warranty that is not valid for the 911, and its up to you to figure that out..

A carmax warranty will cover any car they sell. You are covered.

Congrats, sounds like a great deal.

Congrats! There is a staff member on Jalopnik (?) that buys high end cars like Aston Martin, Land Rovers from carmax and gets the warranties.

He has a YouTube channel. Apparently, he crushes the warranties and comes out on top.

Just got my DC inspection this morning then I need to get a copy of it to CarMax. I traded the 07 I had for the V as it was starting to eat oil and had coolant leak someplace. I have full warranty on this 09 so that makes it much better. CarMax has to fix the strip that holds the cupholders in place and add the left rear stone guard which they will do. They will allow me 200 dollars for owners manual too. I will need floormats which I have to buy. I'll get all of that at Suncoast. Pics coming in a bit. Did my midnight drive to Mt Vernon and back last night in the cool air by the Potomac and felt great

Congratulations- sounds like a nice car. Did carmax give you a dme readout? Seems weird that at 29k miles the clutch was replaced "a while back". If driven properly I'd expect double the life, if not more. I'd also be suspicious about a missing stone guard- sounds like a repainted rear quarter?

Well pretty sure a woman drove it first. The phone book was still in the PCM. It was Brandy. Not be be sexist but lots of people and more so women can't properly drive a stick. So it was replaced at 20k miles from not using it right. Stone guards can come off at times. I see no indication of a repair or respray
