Default Review: icarsoft POR II diagnostic scanner

Hello,

I replaced my old steering wheel with a Sport Design paddle wheel and due to my own fault ended up with an airbag error (which didnt go away by itself, of course).

So I decided to give the icarsoft POR II a try after having sold my Durametric Pro a year ago after being very disappointed with it.

First I performed the online update which included 7 files. Then I proceeded to try out the scanner on my car (2011 997.2) for the first time. It detected quite a number of control units and it successfully erased the airbag error without any hitch. Also detected the "thermostat stuck open" error that I knew was there.

The tool can also reset service reminders and do a couple more special functions (ebrake).

I am very happy with this tool, especially given the price that I paid.

If anyone has any questions please let me know.

Regards,

CF

Great to hear your good results. The ad on Amazon does not say it resets service intervals (or I just missed it), so I'm glad you confirmed. Did you do a side-by-side of functionality differences between the icarsoft and the much cheaper X-431R?

The iCarsoft POR II can only reset the oil "service" light. It cannot reset the service interval for general maintenance.

I am familiar with most products from Launch X431 company but what is X-431R?

I dont quite understand. As far as I know there is only 1 type of service/maintenance reminder implemented in my car. So the tool can either reset that reminder or it cant.

I am not due for a service in a while but I will try and reset anyways just to see if it works.

Regards,

CF

I take it the Durametric unit is spendy and locked to a VIN?

Hahahaha sounds like the Land Rover world. Years ago there was one game in town for the home mechanic. They made an ODBII scanner/clearing device and it cost upwards of $700. Bonus was, it was tied to a specific VIN to prevent loaning out to a friend. I just got used to bringing my Rover mechanic a bottle of Petron.

Then some tech heads got together and made a superior product, better interface, no VIN restrictions........All for $150ish. I have no knowledge of the Durametric unit, But if the Icarsoft Porsche unit is half as good as my Icarsoft Range Rover unit....home run.

They make a good product.

I have no idea, but it is what is being sold on fleabay

Anyone try the BlueDriver product?
I have a Bluedriver- used it originally for my //M Roadster. I believe it only resets codes that are stored in the OBDII, not things like airbag reset. It's a pretty nice unit to use to monitor things while you're driving since it is one of the few that with bluetooth to an iPhone.
