I moved to Houston two years ago and my really only complaint is the drivers, for the most part they suck! Simple as that, 65 in far left lane, turn signals are a sign of weakness, no one uses them, I guess Im a puss because I like people to know my intentions, like changing lanes. Every day on the way to work is like a frickin NASCAR race. I flew back to Philly for a funeral last Oct. rented a Charger and was on the road heading north from the airport on 95 at 6:30 at night and it was pleasure, people used their turn signals, got out of the left lane, waved at you for letting them into your lane. Not here. Pcar isn't a daily driver, the day I take her to work is the day something bad will occur.

The left hand lane for passing does not exist in Texas it is a tragedy and causes more traffic and accidents than speeding ever would.

Sucks man - and i'm noticing it lately here in Florida! Lots of Texas plates sitting in the left lane this summer. I don't get it.

My worst experiences have been with bicycle riders. They are very aggressive in Seattle, and Bellevue in particular. I have had numerous cases of blocking me and spitting, yes spitting on my car because they didn't want to "share the road" with me. Their idea of sharing is to "take the lane" and back up all the other drivers.... in an effort to save the planet.

My biggest pet peeve is when bikes act like a car when it's convenient and then act like a bike when it's convenient, passing on the shoulder. I always block the shoulder if there is a bike behind me so they can't go around me.

If you believe in the Constitution, the rule of law and don't want socialism you are now a racist fascist end of story.

Real mature and will certainly help to foster bike/car harmony

I bike to work downtown in the summer and drive when it gets too cold. There are aholes on both sides but I have never seen a biker take a full lane on the road unless its necessary for safety reasons ie like when there is construction and the lane width cant handle a bike/car combo. Passing cars on the curb side is what bikers are supposed to do

Moving over to block people biking is just being a dick

I do this at lights. Because after the light if I didn't do this I am going to have to overtake the bike in like 30 seconds once it turns green which can be very unsafe. I do this because I care about the safety of others not because I am "a dick".

Sorry but not what you said ie I always block the shoulder. Didn't say anything about lights. And besides that does not help anyone from a "safety" perspective. If the biker is stopped beside you, cant you beat them to the other side of the intersection? How does a bike get 30 secs ahead of you from a stopped position at a light?? Your driving a Porsche after all! And besides that, there is likely another bike 100m ahead.

Your claim of "safety" rings hallow I am afraid

It is illegal in Texas for bikes to pass on the right of you at a red light so I am just enforcing the law for them. Also lot of the bikers go right through the red lights. So they pass on the right and go through the red light and then I have to pass them on a small road which can be almost impossible sometimes. I am just looking out for their safety. We are all sharing the roads and I just want to keep everyone safe. When riding bikes as a kid one of my good friends got hit by a truck and nearly died when I was with him, he had to get airlifted. It has nothing to do with being an ******* and everything to do with awareness. I do not want somebody riding their bike to get hit by a car.

Do it the German way.

"YOUR POVERTY MAKES ME WANT TO PUKE".

They have that as bumper stickers on expensive cars. "Eure Armut kotzt mich an".

You are kidding right? You've never seen a bike or a group of bikes take up a full lane??

OK let me try a different tack. If someone stops beside you at a light then they are not passing you correct? Is it illegal for them to stop beside you?

Running the red is illegal period - this falls in to the ahole list of bikers.

Passing on a small road is a fact of life - there is always going to be another biker somewhere. Blocking them at a light just doesn't make any logical sense to your argument about just wanting to keep people safe.

Pls do not block bikers at the curb lane. Its not your role to enforce your version of what you think is best for everyone when it comes to road safety.
Blocking the curb lane ANYWHERE ie stopped at a light, stopped for traffic, is a BAD IDEA. It will likely just cause some biker to get pissed off and swing out in to traffic on the left to get around you. How safe are they going to be now??

And besides that, you could get a nail in your tire.....
