Fellow P-folks...

I apologize in advance for the recent posts on "almost" getting the unicorn...

It seems every car that Ive been ready to pull the trigger on, something has gone wrong... And in turn, the elusive 911 sneaks away.

Its been a frustrating task trying to find the one. Ive done all my homework, spent hundreds of dollars on PPI's that never materialize into anything, and im at the point now where Im wondering if the universe is trying to tell me something.

Is this a common "right of passage-like" experience that most go through when on "the hunt"???

Im at a loss for words at how literally everything that can go wrong with finding the right car has happened.

Please tell me if there is light at the end of the tunnel!

No you shouldn't give up. There's a car out there for you.

 

You will always wonder with regret if you give up. Keep trying and eventually you will be rewarded handsomely, and have stories to tell. Just be ready to jump quickly when the right opportunity arises! Good luck!!!

 

Took me about a year, well worth it. Just be ready to move quickly when the right car appears - a couple hours can be the difference between bringing home a unicorn and continuing the hunt.

 

Hang in there... any car that got away from you was not meant to be... Your P car is out there waiting for you....

 

like others have said wait for what you want. one thing to consider is your budget, if you looking for a rock bottom crazzy deal then your going to see cars at the bottom of the barrel.
there priced that way for a reason.

 

Bad in what way... PPI finding issues?
Try looking at dealers for cars with a CPO on it, you pay a little more but you get peace of mind and for most parts you can just skip the PPI.

 

Never give up. It is like finding your woman, if you look for her desperately she never shows up. Once you stop looking she bumps into you. Success with finding your car.

 

Lower your expectations.

 

For me shopping was half the fun, I was looking at 997's for years before I pulled the trigger on the one I have. Thought about other cars along the way, but in the back of my mind, I knew I would only be happy with a Porsche 911.

 

It really depends on why you are "losing out to others" the vehicles that you want, along with how you value your time spent trying to purchase this used car perhaps at a "bargain" price
For example, I always wanted a 911 since I can recall..., also I was interested in the process of importing a car from the US to Canada.
One night in Jan 2010 around 11pm I went on eBay, decided that a 997 4s was a good entry level 911 to try out, spent an hour or so on 6speed warning about imsb issues on 2005's (I always try to avoid first year of new model anyways, and in hindsight no 4s in 2005...)
I didn't know what was a fair price to pay so I did an eBay search for completed sales and found a stunning example at a seemingly great price. I emailed the business, Jakes in San Diego, and said hey, that's a great car, if you find another similar email me and I'll buy it.
Nick replied that the sale had fallen through, I spent the early morning hours reading up about this model and bought it first thing in the morning and wired the funds before lunch.
I had that car for 6 years and it was bulletproof
So my search took less than 12 hours and turned out great. I would have paid more but didn't need to.
Some people would spend 2 years + searching for a "bargain" and of course to each their own, but that is time they missed driving one of the greatest cars ever built.

Have you looked at the silver 2009 997 C2 in Phoenix? I checked it out..higher miles but fits your low budget. It's for sale on RL

 

Don't over-think it: find a nice-looking car with a decent-looking history at a price you can afford, check the mechanicals, and buy it.

 

Would be helpful to know why you keep striking out. Bad PPI's? Not the exact options you want? Your offers are not accepted? Or....?
