Which ductail is it? (I'd like to get the Getty for my ride) And does it have the brake light? I'm interested (997.2) and will be in SoCal next weekend, PM me if the first interested party falls through....

Congrats on the new ride. She's a beauty. Definitely special and a keeper!
I saw that one (or a twin) heading down Laguna Canyon as we were heading out of the Canyon a year and a half ago. She should be the perfect tool for your needs!
I've been musing on a DSC for a year now. Not planning on doing anything there for another year (home remodeling and the upcoming European Delivery of Pam's new car are higher on my better half's priority list) but I could be interested.
Congrats again. Now go out, drive, enjoy!!!

Wow. Very similar damage. Difference is I had air bag deploy and from my observation the dash will need to be replaced. The insurance adjuster asked me how much I thought it would take to repair the damage & $20k was my rough estimate based on Porsche prices. Dealer market vaule is in the $35k range for 2006 w/ 78k miles. So the writing is on the wall for a total loss as far as % cost of repair to market value of the vehicle.
This is probably for the best. Be sure you push for a good settlement.
When I lost my Cayman S just 4 weeks after buying it -- in this case both airbags deployed as did the seat belt pretensioners (what amazing technology!) -- the insurance company (of the driver who ran into my car) kept shoving used cars at me. I held out and received a much better settlement.

Oh dear!
Sorry to see that tragic accident. Air bags come through! (At least one did).
This is becoming a greater occurrence each year because of the proliferation of .... tree huggers! Anti-gun types want us to stop hunting--so we have a lot of deer out there.
I hit one a couple of months ago with my pickup truck--lucky, it was a residential area and even the deer was able to get up, brush itself off, and continue, albeit with a rough gait.

Glad you're ok and all. Question though, aren't there those silent whistles you can install that scare deer and animals away while driving? It could be annoying to hear this all the time if you're an animal though

Jay,
Congratulations on the Spyder. Glad you're OK and have found a replacement you're excited about. As a 914 owner who likes mid-engine Porsches as much as my rear and front varieties, the Boxster Spyder is one of my favorite cats from Porsche, though I've never had the opportunity to drive one.
Wayne, move DSC up the list

Thanks everyone. I'm already falling in love with the Spyder. Its soo lightweight.
Have already sold the ducktail, ipd plenum & TB, and the stock steering wheel.
DSC sport module is listed on ebay for a great price. Includes 3 axis accelerometer. DSC sport doesn't offer discounts so here's your chance if youve been on the fence. Its one of the best things you can do for PASM cars, it really brings the technology forward.

Deer populations for hunters are carefully controlled in most states to a large extent to ensure a good hunting season, not to protect motorists from accidents. So the animals that are hunted don't lead to population reductions as that's the last thing hunters want. If you look at deer hunting regulations from state to state, you'll see that they are generally designed to keep the population up rather than reduce it. It's an industry of sorts and the only way to "stock the pond" is to make sure reproduction is protected.
What's also interesting is that while deer populations (as indicated by harvests) have declined over the past 15 years, deer / car accidents are up.
Here's some decent information on why that hunting has little effect on accidents as well as some examples of what has helped in some areas:
