997S vs. DEER
Hit a deer this Saturday on my first drive after a 30 day layoff from driving! Just my luck!
Its like I've always heard, "They come outta nowhere." I was on a striaght section of Upper Big Tujunga Canyon Rd. Front bumper cover, lower lip spoiler, driver fender, windshield, passenger airbag = full leather dash damage, front radiator, lights, wheel well liners, roll over bars deployed, and likely front crash bumper damage. And probably some stuff i can't see.
Was able to keep the car straight and get it stopped without going off the road which was great. If you've ever been in an airbag deployment accident you'll know that initially you can see through the cloud of powder & smoke from the bags.
2006 997s 78500 miles kbb average quality most likely a total loss acording to the insurance company's sight unseen evaluation. Should know more today.
Items to take off the car - DSC sport module w/ 3 axis accelerometer, radio delete shelf, Carrera GT fixed back seats, Breau Kruse harness bar, 5 point harnesses, Carbon Fiber hood, IPD plenum & 82mm throttle body, Ducktail.
Car also had Elephant Racing camber plates, Dog Bones, toe links, h&r sways & springs but would be too much effort to get those things swapped

Ouch for the 997.
I hope (and it looks like) everyone is ok, be safe everyone!

This is my worst fear driving canyon roads..
Glad you are okay! Cars can easily be replaced.
I almost hit a deer this weekend as well, narrowly missed it. The animal came back for a second crossing trying to hit the side of my car..suicide deer's!
Time to look at getting a nice 997.2? Want to continue having fun!

Geez, that sucks on a billion different levels. This is a huge fear of mine since pretty much all my driving is done on north Georgia mountain roads which are fill of deer.

Ive been up and down these roads for past 11 years and never hit anything but the occasional fallen rock. I guess you put enough miles on the road and its just a sooner or later type of thing.

I felt bad for the deer. I was told multiple times that I was susposed to keep the deer and have a BBq. Sorry but my meat comes from the grocery store not the front of my car! Lol
