Rod, that pressure is fine and everything is working normally. What you need to keep an eye on is if it drops below that much, especially if it's a really hot day and you're getting on it - keep an eye on the oil temp under these circumstances as well.

The Variocam Plus system in our engines uses oil pressure to vary both the valve timing and intake valve lift. On our camshafts there are 3 lobes for each intake valve - in low lift mode, the valve lifter is only controlled by the center lope, but in high lift mode, the lifter rides on the two outer lobes, where not only is the profile of the cam lobes different, but it also creates 11mm more valve lift and longer duration.

Without properly high oil pressure, the actuator in the lifter can't be moved to the higher cam setup as the spring on the end of the pin keeps it in the back position and the lifter riding on the lower cam lobe.
