Default Oil pressure is too high? 5 PSI at 5000 RPMs, what might be cause?

I haven't really paid much attention, but recently realized that my oil pressure is 5 psi at the 5000 RPM and pretty much any time it isn't just at an idle. When at idle it is about 2 PSI. Oil is 5w 40 Mobil 1, about 4,000 miles on the oil. 23k miles on the car. Car seems to run great, but the owners manual says it should be around 3.5 psi.

Any ideas? Is this a bad thing, or a non-issue?

I am very curious as to what the mystery is here. Checking my own sanity, but that sounds like... umm... oil.... like 5W 40... from... Mobil... called Mobil 1.

Color me confused by LexVan's post

Next time you have a chance, turn the key a single click so as to enter accessory mode and see if your oil pressure gauge is at anything greater than zero. When the oil pressure sending unit begins to fail, it can read too high or low.

Its just slightly above the low line/mark (which I would guess is normal given these cars burn oil and it has just over 4k miles since the last change). My guess is that that isn't the issue. I bought the car a few months ago and the oil change was just performed by the previous owners preferred porsche indy shop.

Going to Motul in a couple weeks

He's referring to the oil pressure gauge not the oil level.
If there's a pressure reading with engine off then the gauge is going/gone.

There is no Mobil 5W40 oil that I know of. Maybe he's running 10W40 or 15W50??

My understanding is the one available in US (5w-40 in the photo) is not Porsche A40 spec but please check the back of the bottle to confirm.

I don't use Mobile 1 but Mobile 5w-40 is available in the US.
