Yes, it's the front left wheel and the picture is showing a part of the spoiler lip.

The OP plans to replace the spoiler lip, side skirts and rear trim piece. They all have the same finish applied. From one of the links posted in this thread it seems as if at least the side skirts are ready to be bolted on without any further paint work.

Everyone - this outpouring of information is great and much appreciated. Yes, I want to replace my factory painted and optional front spoiler lip, side skirts and rear thingys with the same OE parts in black. That's all I want to do. What I want clarified is whether these parts are ready to install as is or require some type of finish. I really don't want to do any paintwork.

It would really be helpful to me is someone with these GTS parts in black snap a coupe of high resolution close up images and share. You might also want to add whether the finish is smooth or textured! Thanks. I appreciate the help, advice, and look forward to participating in the forum.

Thank you for the information. Useful. By bolt on I mean buy the new OE part, remove the existing part, and install the new one on the car.

Thanks.

The front lip is held on by clips and I suspect that there it is not too involved to remove the skirts or rear panels. (The air intake grills and I think the rear valence were also a paintable options.)

Thank you for this. I don't want to paint so this may be a non-starter. Will wait to learn more from the community before committing. I don't know where I could find the correct paint...

It's a smooth, matte Black paint. It's similar in appearance to the matte Black interior bits.

I think I read (on rennlist I believe) that you have to paint the replacement part if you want to have the same finish.

you should look at your option sheet because painted trim parts are options. I think about 1700 for the side sills, 1000 for the lip, very over expensive options. The only other explination is the owner had them painted which is unlikely.
First of all, the oem part is not painted, it is bare black plastic. It gets faded and stains. If you want it black, you should paint them all black and then it will be resistant to discoloration. If you buy new parts, its going to begin deteriorating from the start.

I did look at my option sheet and they did come from the factory painted. I apologize if I didn't it make that clear in my earlier posts. All told it amounted to 1,865 in exclusive options. You did answer my question though, the original black parts are not painted or coated - thanks. That helps.

Here's the thread that I was referring to about having to paint the parts:

My GTS has the painted option. I had them wrapped with clear bras when I had the rest of the car done, including front end - front fenders, hood, bumper and lights, etc., side mirrors, windshield frame, door pulls, behind wheels wells and over rocker panels, etc. These areas still look factory fresh as a result.

Are there any non oem front lip options for the GTS? i am looking for something relatively inexpensive as It is almost a wear item. I ordered an aerokit lip from suncoast but it is constantly getting chipped up.

Yes, that's one of useful posts I did read. I guess I was hoping to avoid applying a finish. I went ahead and ordered all the parts from Suncoast. We will see what arrives and take it from there,

I do appreciate everyone's advice and help. Anymore more feedback is appreciated.

Thank you.

Thumbs up

I did not have the option. Bought the car used and although there was some clear bra applied on parts of the car that has helped preserve the finish unfortunately none was applied to the painted sill panels. At the end of the day I will live and very gratified to have a GTS in the garage! Previous owners took good care of this beauty but were not as **** as I am about aesthetics.

Cheers.

There is a spray can paint that's supposedly very nearly an exact match to the Porsche OEM trim color. There are a few threads about using it. I was going to buy the Sport Classic lip, and paint it myself. Search around. I remember it being easy to use, as it lays down smooth, being matte/low sheen. Btw, I too strongly prefer the black GTS bits. They make the car feel tougher and more special, IMO. Good luck!

I believe there are products manufactured by SEMS (google it - much info.) that have been referenced in older threads on this subject. I may try them but I am not paint expert... Thanks.

OK, here is a pic of my stock GTS. My suggestion is to Clear Coat the black trim (not high gloss) and paint spoiler color to match car as original.

Okay let's go through all the parts for you.

Front spoiler lip.
There are no aftermarket front spoiler lip options for the 997.2 Aerokit front bumper cover that comes standard on the GTS.
If you buy any of the three OEM lips that fit the Aerokit front bumper cover you'll need to paint them as they all come in primer.

Side skirts
Any WB 997.2 side skirt will fit the GTS but the one that came standard is the RS one linked above. It come already in black.

Rear bumper cover trim pieces
These come standard in black when you buy the rear bumper cover. I do not know the part number if you're trying to buy them individually. They are a different black from the side skirts and are a stone chip texture. They do remove easily from the bumper since they just snap in.

So you could remove these all and paint them or blow a $1000+ for new parts which you'll also have to paint anyway. Your choice.

If you paint them, here's a link to SEM back which is the best aerosol paint I've ever used in any application. It sets in 5 minutes so you can do three or four coats in under 30 minutes curing over night.

SEM 39143 Trim Black Aerosol - 15 oz. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000EM019O..._RIF-wb4ZVBXCW

One can of that is enough to paint three aero lips or one aero lip three times. Ask me how I know.
