997 GTS side skirts
Hello all: I just purchased a 2012 C4 GTS (I will post pics as soon as I can). Have a quick question. The front spoiler lip, side skirts, and rear trim behind each wheel on the rear bumper came painted body color and are fairly stone chipped. I prefer the non-painted black versions and wanted to know how they come from Porsche as an add on part. Are these parts ready to bolt on or do they need to be finished with a coating or paint? I really don't want to get involved with painting. I have searched the forum and read where some have refreshed these parts with various coatings.
Or put another way, what is the texture or coating on the parts referenced above? I have no frame of reference as have not seen a GTS up close before. Thanks in advance. The car is awesome BTW. |
welcome to owning a Porsche...
I would have them sanded and Painted black. Mine are unpainted thankfully :D http://www.suncoastparts.com/categor...xteriorWW.html Here is a link to the parts you're looking for but they are $$$$$ |
Here are the non GTS/Gt2 sides significantly cheaper http://www.suncoastparts.com/product/997TTSSILL.html
unpainted |
Appreciate the help. I am going original black GTS side skirts. Need to understand whether they come ready to bolt on or do they need to painted to match what would have come stock from Porsche on a std. GTS. I want it too look original...
Thanks again. Hopefully someone with a GTS w/or painted sills cam chime in on what they look like - smooth or textured plastic. |
The rear trim, side skirts and spoiler were offered as a standard feature in black (it was an option to have many parts painted to match the car color). The front lip takes a beating, I'm not sure about the aesthetics of painting it. I am not sure what you mean by bolt on? The front lip is held on by clips and I suspect that there it is not too involved to remove the skirts or rear panels. (The air intake grills and I think the rear valence were also a paintable options.)

If we have the gts, I think you are saying the gt3 and rs parts will work?
Asking as the link you gave linked to the gt3 and rs page? Or are the non gts parts also compatible? http://cdn1.evo.co.uk/sites/evo/file...?itok=DND7sb__ To clarify... Both work. The one above is what comes on the car. |
Here's a close-up shot of the lip on my 4 GTS (sorry, the light wasn't great):
https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...0f75cb173d.jpg It's a smooth, matte Black paint. It's similar in appearance to the matte Black interior bits. I think I read (on rennlist I believe) that you have to paint the replacement part if you want to have the same finish. |

The GTS is a wide body so GT3 RS sides are compatible.

Ahhh.... the wide body, one of the primary reasons why I have the car.
So 400 bucks for a new one... Not horrible... you got four different options that work though! |
