Is this a CL scam ?

Called this guy and talked for about 10 minutes on the condition of the car.
Sounds OK so I drive about an hour to look at it and drive it.
Needs a little love but maybe a contender based on price/mileage.
Get home and Google the VIN - Flood Title - WTF!
Also turns out he's sorta maybe affiliated with a dealer . . .
Have fun.

Its not a scam. Its a deal. Guys who buy cabs, its all about superficial appearance. Guy who buys this one, he'll be bragging to all his friends what a great deal he got. Until he flips it. Three years out and if remembers anything at all it will be like, "yeah, I did get a good price on that Porsh."

Your statement could be said about any Porsche or sports / exotic / luxury etc... car.
Let me guess, you think only gay hair dressers should buy Boxsters.
Convertibles, especially true roadsters are the purest form of sports cars. Always has been and always will be.

"Guys who buy cabs, its all about superficial appearance." With recent threads about hating this and hating that, and now this, it does seem like the comments have hit a new low.

What's wrong with being a gay hairdresser? Besides, a cabriolet would make a much better bass boat.
Back on topic, the price is not THAT good so not so much a scam as it is a flood vehicle being sold at non flood pricing.

I originally was interested in flipping the car or replacing my '05 coupe if it was in better shape (it was not). I really didnt mind the drive as my son is in college there and the traffic pushes 90mph there and back.
Speaking of boats . . .
After finding the flood title I got a little paranoid that maybe it was a set up since the only person at the dads house was his sister (he lives in Mobile) who let me drive the car solo. When I got back no one would answer the door, so I put the key just inside on the counter. His dad (see links) called me a little later also trying to sell me the (cherry) car.
So I googled him and found this:

Bama Belle dinner cruise paddleboat. Bought the tub after being dumped by previous owners and a $10,000,000 drowning lawsuit when a Greek proved once again its hard to swim fully clothed and drunk.
Kids put dads project on CL, but he says not so fast! City wants lots of back rent for the dock, but he says they never had a lease. City says they cant lease cause the tubs not insured. He says cant get insurance because its not up to Coast Guard Certification code.
Real life is stranger than fiction.

Flood cars can be good candidates for track cars if you plan to strip it and you know why the car was branded a Flood car. Its a good way to get a decent price on something you are going trash anyway.
