To many of the same, i wanted something different. I went the speedline replica route. Childhood nostalgia and all... brooksmoto from eBay, even with ups ruining one during shipping, highly recommended seller
The more brake visible, the lighter the wheel (if same size and material).
Modern wheels have "visibly" less spokes/mass and theoretically better brake component cooling than legacy designs.
The design effort and intricate casting requirements are reflected in the price.
Forging requires additional time/machinery. Only "free lunch" is magnesium and CF- and it's an expensive meal.
Only drawback, aesthetics aside, is the unencumbered view visibly "shrinks" one's brakes. Lifting a skirt is fraught with visual peril. Or rewarding, if big discs/multi piston calipers and/or PCCB are revealed.
Ever see 22, 23 or even 24" wheels on a monster SUV? The brakes look pathetic (and usually are for the weight).
