Bore scoping during PPI?

That's right. There was a thread a few months back, guy had a Raby rebuild, where he (Raby) mentioned cold weather testing. Evidently all the damage happens within the first few seconds of very cold starting when the piston heats and expands faster than the cylinder, briefly reducing the cylinder wall tolerance to damage levels. Then once the initial cold start damage is begun, normal hot driving finishes it off. He even said he notices an up-tick in business from areas getting cold weather.
Actually those motors of his sound so nice it'd almost be a gift to get one with scoring just so you could have the perfect excuse to have him build you one right.

And you might want to tell the tech hey look, if there's no scoring I'm buying, so while you're there install new plugs, check/replace AOS, basically whatever else it would be a good idea to do while you're there let's do it.

So, does it make sense to stretch to find a 997.2 or buy a well optioned 997.1? Obviously I'll do a great PPI with good engine check, but are you saying the 997.2 is also starting to present the scoring too?
