As ADias mentioned, the 6yr/60k change is typically just the PDK clutch fluid change as I discussed recently here:
https://rennlist.com/forums/997-foru...il-change.html. I'm actually having the work done this Tuesday 12/22. You can see the details of the costs discussed in that thread, but by buying the 6 liters of fluid and pan/filter online I got the cost down to $920; saving about $220 over what the dealer initially wanted. It's not a lot of savings but better than nothing.

The pan/filter is not required, but the mechanic doing the work (not the service advisor) recommended it and I figured I'd try to do everything I can to make sure the PDK lasts the "lifetime" of the car since I'm going out of warranty this week.

The dealer also told me that the 100k mile PDK gear oil change will cost around $1700... just so you know what to plan for.

That cost - gear oil change - is ludicrous. It should not cost any more than a manual transaxle fluid change.

Agreed. I don't like to discuss pricing since it can vary wildly. Buy it seems like things are highly skewed here.

You have found one car with PDK. Keep looking. Buying an expensive Porsche shouldn't be a quick decision.
If you are planning to keep this car for a long time,do yourself a favor and buy a manual transmission. There is no question in my mind of any type of cost that comes close between the 2,not to mention complexity and most importantly enjoyment. Remember, you are buying a Porsche for the fun of driving, not to commute in traffic and as a grocery getter, there are many other cars for that. And nothing comes close to the fun of having a manual transmission Porsche. Thank me later.

Hi everyone! I found an interesting 2005 997.1 C2S with manual transmission. It has around 31-32K miles and looks like it was babied. It even has Cargraphic exhaust and "engine mapping which adds 30 more HPs and some torque". The only detail I do not like - it has brown leather. Will go to see it on Thursday. The shop where it is has Durametric tools and can get the engine "abuse" report. Will share the numbers here, as I still have to learn how to read them Thanks!

I would avoid the first few years of the 997 generation because of the IMS issue. Tons of info about that on this board.

Yes, I read a lot about IMS. I may be wrong, but I think I would not discard a car because of IMS, but would probably replace it right away with an improved one.

Where I live, Porsche dealers imported manual transmission Carreras up to 997.1. Since 2009, all 997.2 are PDKs. So, the best possible option would be a 2008 car.

If you're going to change it,then you have nothing to worry about. I believe LN engineering sells the upgraded IMS.

Replacing the IMS on a 2006-2008 is no small task. Gotta split the engine open. I think some late 2005's were built the same way but I could be wrong. Early 2005's are most prone to IMS failure but they're also the easiest to upgrade.

So, I pulled the trigger yesterday and got me the best New Year's gift of my life:

2005 C2S with 32K miles, manual transmission and some extras (cargraphic exhaust, lower springs, custom engine mapping and a carbon fiber torsion bar).

I spent entire day driving
