Default Soft Back/Shell Sport Seats

For those of you with the GTS or other models that have the soft back/shell sport seats (manual or electric). How would you rate them for comfort and support? If you have had the hard backs or comforts would you say these are better or worse then others. How are they holding up to your wear and tear?

Cheers
Walt

It all depends on your "build". I'm a 40Reg & 155lbs. and find that the seats fit quite well with plenty off lateral support (unless you are doing lots of tracking). Those who may be of "exceptionally large proportions" may find the seats to be "too tight" due to bolster size/positioning. Wear of the seat material is dependent on how you enter and exit. Dragging your body over the seat back and cushion bolsters will accelerate wear.

I have adaptive sport seats in my 997. I had comfort seats in my 996. I think the adaptive sport seats are more comfortable, and they appear to be resisting bolster wear more than the comfort seats did in my 996. I'm 6'4" and a little over 200 lbs. I'm careful not to slide on the bolster when I enter or exit the vehicle.

After owning a car with sport seats, I don't think I would buy another one without them.

I find the adaptive sport seats fit and feel good for me too @ 200lb & 6ft. I don't have a issue with the wear on the seat fronts as they are fine.
Its the soft shell backs that are marking easily as they are so soft.
Or is just mine that are soft?

Are your adaptive sport seats the ones with the soft backs or hard backs. I thought I was getting hard backs but now know their are soft shell backs too and I have them. I am surprised at the premature wear after 3 months of ownership.
Maybe I should put in a warranty claim.

Would you guys have pictures of the different seat types for reference?

I have the optional leather covered backs, if that's what you mean.

Porsche's sport seats (not talking about the track orientated buckets) have hard backs and are called hard backs by the 993 guys, adaptives by the 997 guys and sofas by the 991 guys. [I don't follow the 996 forum and have no idea what they call them] Regardless, they are awesome and I wouldn't buy a 911 without them :reckon:

The hard backs have extra side bolstering and are characterized by 'wings' at shoulder level that makes all the difference in the world. There's a nice picture of them in this listing https://rennlist.com/forums/vehicle-...32-photos.html

They are nice! They are still a hard back seat, but they have leather covering the entire back. It was option XSB.

So, I guess I'm still unclear on exactly what you mean by a soft back sport seat.

Mine are like the first photo in your post, only covered with leather on the seat backs.

Those are 997 Adaptives aka hard backs. In standard form, the backs are grey plastic but they could also have been painted ext color (as in this example) or covered in leather.
