Default Sometimes key does not start car?

I have a 2006 997 cab with 54,000 miles on the clock. New to me in April, 2015.
At times, when turning the key, no dash lights come on and no starting occurs.
after several attempts, the dash light appear and it starts normally. Of course I
am terrified of the time when no amount of trying will start the car.
Is this a known issue? Thanks in advance for meaningful replies.

Sounds like your ignition switch is bad.

key fob battery sounds nicer, will try that first. if problem persists, time for dealer?
Maybe indy can do it cheaper...

Happens on mine (2006 C2S) too. Changing battery in the key fob didn't work. I replaced the starter earlier (to fix the "slow crank" issue) and it did help this problem.

I will probably replace the ignition switch next.

You can do the ignition switch yourself. It is fiddly and you have to be a bit clever, but you can do it.

Peace

Battery in key fob has nothing to do with the start process - it provides power to the remote function only.

I have a 2011 C2S with manual transmission and I had that problem on a number of occasions. Turns out it was the clutch depress safety switch.

^I was thinking the exact same thing. Same thing on my '12 GTS (MT). Had switched replaced, no problem since.

Remove the key, wait 60 seconds, try again. Immobilizer.

You have a brake pedal interlock. If I get in a hurry I have the same problem. I take a breath, make sure my foot is on the brake pedal, and go again. Then again, it could be the ignition switch.

I have also replaced my starter, it had nothing to do with this issue.

Sorry... I meant it did NOT help this problem.
