So what was that "bead" trim that you used?

Steve - I used automotive D-Shape rubber weather trim. It was left over from a previous project so I don't have the original packaging, but it is about 5mm wide and has 3M backing tape.
As it is stuck to the underside of the bumper it is really only visible if you are viewing from ground level (or kneeling down).

As you can see from the 2nd pic below, as soon as you are looking down at an angle the trim is barely visible.

I did it because there was a very small gap visible only from certain angles, where the outermost edges of the spoiler meet the underside of the bumper. (this was due to a slight curvature difference between the 991 spoiler and the 997.2 bumper).
Once I started with the trim in these far edges, it looked really nicely finished, so I decided to run it across the full length of the join between the bumper and spoiler.

FYI - If anyone else is feeling adventurous, there is also a newer version of this sports lip for the 2017 991.2

I've not yet seen a lot of pictures with this 991.2 spoiler installed, and I was not able to find many pics of just the spoiler itself to see how it attaches to the bumper. Also the overall dimensions could be different. From the photos it looks like it is wider if you compare the end points with the position of the headlights (but that could easily be due to the focal length of the lens used, creating some perspective distortion).

It would be interesting to see, once more of them start showing up.

Came back to find a great looking C4S cab (with standard front spoiler) parked nearby, so snapped a quick pic.

Just did this on my car. Friend had an extra 991 front lip so I picked it up from him and tried it out.

I installed it slightly differently. I cut slits in the factory lip to get the tabs of the 991 lip to slip through, and riveted the lips together. The very edges of the 991 lip don't tuck in quite as nice as the center of the lip, so I might make some slight changes.

Overall, looks great and it was easy to do. Thanks for taking the dive to try this EMC2.

Great to hear and I like the approach you took. That certainly would have made the fitment a lot easier

My guess would be that the fitment issue you are seeing is because the method you used to attach the 991 Lip would force it to sit slightly more forward on the car if I understand you correctly?

Would love to see some pics when you have a chance.

Default great mod !

thinking of doing this on a 997.1, however the 997.1 is flat on the bottom and not sure I can get the sides to mate up (as there is no indentation to fit the lip as in the 997.2). any suggestions ?

wjean - re our IM exchange - let us know what you find out. There seem to be a few 997.1 owners interested in doing the same.

FYI another member on 6Speed installed his directly onto the bumper using Wurth screws:

Definitely an easier option

I have been scouring the internet trying to find a simple and small lip for a 997.1. I think this might be the best option, but anyone familiar with this lip and the shape of the 997.2 vs the .1, know if it will fit or what kind of obstacles might run into? I am not a huge fan of the FVD (sticks out to far and too big unless get the side skirts, which I don't want) and the Maxton just is to low and also not liking the design.

I've not had a chance to compare the 997.1 bumper, but what I can tell you is that the 991 spoiler is made of a very flexible material, so you can really adapt the curvature to your needs very easily. What I would suggest is to pull up a few pics of some 997.1 and 997.2 bumpers off eBay, as they often show the bumpers from multiple angles. By looking closely at the underside you should get a good indication if there should be any real hurdles to installing on a 997.1 also.

All my research was based on looking at many images online, and once I was satisfied that it looked even partially viable, I went ahead and purchased the 991 Sport Lip. One of the best $200 purchases you can make

Default Perfect!

Thank you so much. This is brilliant!
I've looked at every lip on the market. They all too clumsy for me.- well, the Sharkwerks one is nice, but too expensive. I will show this to my body shop friends. Hopefully they can follow your notes. I really love it!
