Default Has anyone converted their interior lights with Suncoast's L.E.D. kit?

Hi,

I have been debating on getting the L.E.D. conversion kit for my C4's interior. Its $150 plus shipping and was debating if it was worth it.

Has anyone else done this?

Do you like it?

Does it give a cheap feel with the bright white look or does it look classy?

Thanks!

You can piece this together for much cheaper on your own if you are inclined to do a little bit of leg work.

I installed the Suncoast LED interrior lights on my C4S last year. Its the only interrior mod I've done to my car and the best. Simple to install, but you might want to watch a youtube video on how to take apart and install the LEDS on the dome light.

I also installed their license plate LED kit while I was at it.

I did it and really like it - agree you need to do the license plate LEDs as well to tie it out. Much brighter and I think it updates the feel. It is obviously very white but whether or not it looks classy is subjective. It's cleaner but less classic.

I did it, but I pieced it together from parts on Amazon. I did the Engine, Frunk, License plate and all the interior including glove box.

I broke some tab off of the dome light (which is the hardest piece to replace the bulbs). I tried taping/fixing it, but there was some squeak/rattle I couldn't resolve. I ended up buying a new dome light from Suncoast for $70 and it solved the issue.

Great mod. I've done it on all my cars in the past few years. If you also have an SUV (X5 and MDX here) they make some awesome tail gate LED's that really increase the lumens when the gate is up so you can see a much better at night.

I've done it on other cars and I'm on the fence. Its a bit of a harsh bright light, not like the soft look of the stock lights. You can see better no doubt, but its not super pleasant either.

I did the engine compartment and frunk, as well as the license plate lights.

On my 996, I remember that the interior door handle/latch had LED's in them... my 997.1 does not have these but there are holes that looks like it could accommodate an LED diode...

Anyone know of a kit to put one in there?

ALSO:

Did you have to install a resistor with the lower wattage LED's or is this resistor incorporated with the LED?

I did. I think it's much better than the yellow lights. Agree with doing the license plate as well. Did the sunset set because I read some can give errors and I also wanted something that just worked.

I installed that kit on my 996 coupe. It was okay, but not great. The light was a bit harsh. I have not installed it in my 997 and I don't plan to do so.

Don't buy the expensive kits from the main vendors. They're all just cheap LED bulbs from China. Get them from eBay, Amazon or Aliexpress.

I paid for one of the more expensive kits, and have had three bulbs fail. The seller has given great service and sent two replacements for every one bulb that's failed, but this tells me that the margin they're putting on them is rather high given their willingness to do this of their own accord.

I used a kit a few years back from Maxspeed and they look great but if your lokking to just do certain ones, you could try Superbright LED's.com

My friend did them on his 997 C4S and after seeing them I don't plan on doing them to my 997. The stock ones seem more classy IMO.

I highly recommend the Suncoast kit. All of the LED's fit, they work, and they're all sufficiently bright and of the correct color temperature of white (i.e. not too blue, not too yellow, and no off-colors, like green). If you try to piece together the kit yourself, you might end up with LED's that don't quite match in color temperature or that aren't bright enough. That's what I did a couple years back before I decided just to just get the Suncoast kit and be done with it.

+1 on this.... The kit was complete, fit every socket, color matched, and still works great after a year.
