Simple solution to the sticky / gummy radio button problem
New '06 C4S owner here and new to the group. Wanted to make my first contribution, small as it may be.
My radio ***** were super sticky when I got my car. I researched and read about people using goo gone, gas, rubbing alcohol, plasti dip, spending $30-$60, and all sorts of methods to fix the problem.
Here was my solution:
Fill a small bowl with hot water and a couple drops of dawn dish soap. Let the ***** soak overnight. Take them out the next day and use a dish scrub brush and a toothpick to get the sticky stuff off. It was really easy and all came right off. A couple of small flakes of black coating came off too. I touched it up using a sharpie, can't see it at all.
***** are back on and look great. Hope this helps someone with the same issue.

I did it 6 months ago but they become "too plastic". Good thing is that the white marks are Moulded into the plastic so they stay even if you rub the coating off.
However I wanted the original feel so I ordered 2 new from eBay at 8 dollars each

Fix all of the faded and crappy parts. A/C controls that have all the plastic crap falling off. Etc etc. No affiliation.

Problem with sticky no more is they try to slap on some stickers after the fact. Everything after 08 has long lasting *****. Im referring specifically to the AC/heat/fan speed controls. The cheap, professional, long lasting fix is order replacement ***** from Porsche as they stock the 08 and newer long lasting *****.

Getting the fan & temp control buttons out are a pain. Since you have to take the entire control unit apart it became a nightmare. At least for me. I ordered a real nice used unit on eBay with nice buttons on them and I went that route. Going to replace the entire control unit and be done. Need to clean the volume control though.
Is there a trick to remove or do they just pull off? Hate to try without knowing. Hate to damage that unit.
