Hand sanitizer with rag took care of mine easily. Alcohol in the sanitizer is milder, less chance to melt the black paint off.
The **** feels plasticky now, instead of the quality rubber feel That rubber is what melted and not last this long.

Here is from my replacement.

On the left is the stripped one and on the right is the completely new one.

The stripped one looked perfectly OK but feel plastic so I ordered two new from eBay for 7$ each.

996 *****: Isopropyl alcohol is the way to go and they were fine 5 min later. It's quite a mess and black for the first 30 seconds but it goes off pretty good. Look like new.

I tried a different approach to clean my gummy ***** in my 911 as I had not the right torks screwdriver to take them out.

1) Cut a small square piece of plastic, approx. 2 x 2 inches

(since it´s hard to you to see the cut on the trasparent sheet I did a black one)

2) Protect the PCM panel using this plastic piece by introducing it between the **** and the panel, see pic below.

3) With some hand cleaning wipes and 96 G.L. alchool I carefully rubbed it for about 2 minutes, looking to avoid contact with the PCM panel. It worked very well, I had no damage to the **** painting and it is now ok. I saw the very small portion of the gum at the wipes at the end.

Hope it helps!
