Make sure you do your due diligence on auto body shops. Just because it is going through the Porsche dealership does not guaranty great work. The relationship between the dealership and body shop is often based on economics and then quality.
I would try to find out which body shops are go to shops for local Porsche enthusiasts.
So, I guess it's true what they say. Certainly reflects my own experiences.
Hope your Porsche ends up good as new. If you plan to keep it forever or at least beyond 100,000 miles, the residual value is less significant. If you're more in the '3 years and trade' club, however: That's gonna hurt the numbers.
Diminished Value Claim.. Thank you, I did not even know about this, Ill start looking into it.
I had to get $1600 in repairs for having to get my bumperettes replaced and painted etc. The insurance gave me $1600 for diminished value. They should cut you a big check, definitely fight them on a low ball offer. You just need to think about how hard the car would be to sell now and you need to be compensated for this.
I was rear ended in my BMW 335. With what the insurance gave me, I bought an upgraded (M3 look) bumper. Since they have to pay for paint/ install already, it only cost me about $300 to upgrade instead of $1000 for the bumper and then another $5-800 for paint/ install. We have a great local paint/ body guy here and he does more work fighting the adjusters than paint work. You need someone to fight them for you. And he coached me on my DV claim as well.
Then received a 2.5k check for DV. I came out smelling like a rose.
Was the other driver ticketed? Who's insurance are you going through? You said earlier you didn't have enough time to stop, implying that you hit them. Not being mean, just curious.
