I agree. When I saw the list from nwGTS, I immediately noticed how many of the 997 variants are wide body cars.

I'd have to go back and look at the numbers, but as I recall the 997 narrow body cars are almost as wide as the 996 wide body cars. Porsche has been trying to bring back the wide hips of the 993 cars.

Good point of view. There are rumors about an track oriented 991.2 GT3 R with narrow body. Also, naturally aspirated, manual transmission and no wing. Price between the GTS and GT3.

I've had both, and I love both, so this is more for the sake of furthering interesting discourse, than anything... I think you might be right in that there may be more models of various wide body cars in the 997.1/997.2 lineups, but in terms of overall numbers, my guess is there are still far more narrow body 997s on the road than wide body cars. Carreras and Carrera Ses likely made up the majority of the 997 production runs. Aside from the C4/C4S, which are regular series cars, but are already more rare than their RWD counterparts, the Targas/WB GT cars/Turbos/GTSes/Sport Classic/Speedster are all more niche vehicles that were made in much smaller numbers than the (excellent) "standard" cars. I'll say one thing, I absolutely love the way the wider tracked GTS carves through sweepers, but I do miss how my C2S danced through those same turns.

Yup, you might be right about that. I don't have any production # info by model type. Even the NB 997 gets back to the coke-bottle shape of the 993 that the 996 lacked, and depending on the rear end treatment with spoilers and bumpers and the viewing angle even the NB cars look wide.

I did a survey in a thread a while back on my RUF R-Kompressor and more than half the respondents thought it was a widebody car, but it was built on a C2S narrow body.

My C4 06 is a wide body, that and aero are the best parts.

There's a simple way to look at this for the 997. All are wide body except the Carrera, Carrera S, and GT3.
