Default What is this part?

Hi all,

I need some help in identifying the part name / number in the photo. It's right behind the "snorkel" tube of the air intake box. This plastic pipe is harden to a point where the tip is about the break. So I'd like to replace it asap.

Thanks in advance.

Just guessing, vacuum line. It's hard to see on my car without removing the airbox. Follow the black part upwards and see if there is a thin hollow tube branching off, tell tale sign it's vacuum line. Also follow the silver metal tube part downwards, see where it connects. It might lead to the tandem pump in the lower right of the engine (combo secondary oil pump/vacuum pump).

What year and model?

I also suspect that it's the vacuum line, but I wasn't able to pin point the exact part number from the part diagrams.

It's a 2006 C2S tip.

Thanks

Ok, brake booster line. See figure 10 here, click on the image on the left: http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarti...eplacement.htm

It's probably "vacuum line pump brake 997.110.055.03". Not positive though.

edit: yup, that's the part, see the third image here: https://www.ecstuning.com/Search/vacuum/ES1498005/

Score another for Semi - thanks for your research. Expensive piece of rubber/plastic, isn't it?

Thank you very much, Semi.

So this is just a vacuum line / pipe, which I can just pull out the old one and put in the new one? No liquid spill and nothing to re-fill? Thx.

Pretty much, yes. Be extra careful not to get any dirt in the disconnected line or openings. Most references in the workshop manual talk about covering the opening when removing the line. I haven't replaced this one myself but based on that part number and photo, I wouldn't hesitate to try.

Got it. The part is available at the dealer so I'll give it a go this weekend. Thanks again for your help.

About US$100, from the local Porsche service centre in Hong Kong.
