I have 2007 997 C4S. Until yesterday, everything was working perfectly. I had a autocross, first 3 session went great and at the time session. at the end of the 3rd run, i was waiting in the line and I had a low oil pressure warning came on, car was in the idle not in gear. I give easy throttle, pressure was working. I thought it just the hot temp in oil giving a faulty sensor than i run the last lap.
Than i went to pit area, when in idle another low oil pressure warning came. no check engine triggered. Than i realize i have whining sound coming from the passenger rear tire area. it is feel like loose exhaust mounting, it does not come from the engine area not in the driver side wheel area. specifically passenger rear wheel. feels like something just hanging and making sound. my first initial thought was the some rubber went try in the mountings and making the sound. When i go back to home, after i turn off the engine. after I pick up my stuff in the passenger side, when I closed passenger door, i could hear the sound from movement. its like loose hanger or something. I would have the videos I would post soon. Let me know if you have any idea what could it be?
PS; low oil pressure might not be related to sound? No idea?
That 3rd video with the noise while closing the door and engine off is the real clue. It's unlikely an engine rotation type noise (ie. not the water pump, AOS, secondary tandem oil pump, etc.). Exhaust mounts/welds are known to crack. I'd put the rear up on ramps or jack stands (safely of course), climb underneath and have a helper open and close the door while confirming the noise location. Also try to move the exhaust mufflers and cats with your hands (cold engine, or with oven mitts/heat protection if the exhaust is warm). Remove the airbox and check the motor mounts from the top and from underneath too.
Another option is to get a cheap mechanic's stethoscope for about $10 or so at harbor freight or your local auto parts store. With the engine running probe around underneath in the rear right, careful not to hit a moving part. Because of your separate oil pressure warning, start at the rear tandem oil pump (silver cap, lower right rear of engine).
When I heard it in the first video I thought it sounded like a bad pulley, but semicycler has you on the right track since it makes noise when the engine isn't running. I'd say it's something in the exhaust (mufflers or cats). How many miles and any mods?
Look luck with finding the issue. Good job OP on the videos - always great to see an issue instead just writing about it - your video definitely shows the issue at hand. Curious to know what it is when you find out.
I bet you can replicate the sound by shaking the car gently side to side by pushing on the door frame.
Would be easier than slamming the door over and over.
Grab your passenger side exhaust tip, shimmy gently left to right and up and down. My feeling is one of the muffler brackets is broken along the weld and you can't see it when it's just sitting there as the welded bracket is pressed up against the muffler.
Yeah, seems like the squeak is definitely muffler mount related. What's more of a concern is the low oil pressure. What was it reading on the gauge? What was your oil temp? What was your oil level at operating temp? When I autocross on a really hot day my oil pressure can dip below 1 bar.
Thank you for everyone for the information. It was very helpful, after i tested the couple areas in the exhaust. It turn out the be exhaust hanger screws was got loose. and making the loosen noise. Everything has been tightened and good to go.
For the low oil pressure warning, never had in the street. That day, temp was 105 F, Oil temp was 250 maybe little more, and I was right about .25 in the oil pressure. even that I pushed little hard on the car during the past couple days I did not drop more than .75. I guess it just the hot weather.

Resurrection after many years, but which bolts are you referring to? The two bigger ones for the muffler to muffler bracket or the smaller ones for bracket to engine? I have what looks to be exactly the same noise (also hear the same when closing the door).
