As I was contemplating using a screwdriver to wedge them off, I came across this thread.

Easy to get the cap off and had to find a tiny torx (#6), but worked like a charm. After getting them off, it was simple work to clean them with rubbing alcohol (soak and rub, soak and rub). I put them back on and they look great and feel better.

I really appreciate it.
I had the same experience coming across this thread just in the nick of time. I did put new ones on.

One side note - that very tiny little minuscule screw in the center of the inside **** retainer.

It's easy to drop.

And it's not easy to find after you drop it.

An hour later I got it.

After removing the drivers seat...

I have learned the hard way about dropping screws, down the drain, into the engine compartment, you name it. The last one was a tiny bugger in the frame of a pair of Serengeti dark glasses. I swear that it went into a rug and on to another space/ time dimension. Never found it.

Hi

Safe yourself the hassle and the $$. I ordered 99,9% alcohol via Amazon, a fibre cloth and it took me 10 min to clean both *****, the next day ( as in the beginning it still felt a bit sticky ) the stickiness was gone. Wet fibre cloth and turn the button holding the cloth against it.

These ***** are under £10 each here in the UK from any OPC. Over the years I have found parts generally the cheapest from Porsche (dealer) direct.

Thanks for preventing me from just ripping the ***** off like the web would have you believe (maybe on earlier versions). A couple of updates:
1.) My 2010 needed a T7, not T6 bit. May want to have assorted sizes handy.
2.) Sun Coast now charging $80 a set.
3.) Chrome rings had some extra flash on them requiring trimming. Take your time, test fit the chrome rings on the **** before mounting the ***** on the radio. Cap should then snap on like butta.

It would be nice if someone machined some out of aluminum

Great tip, teebone. I like free fixes!

Five minutes with liquid hand sanitizer (70% alcohol) sprayed on a shop rag, hold the rag against the *****, spin them a few times and the sticky is gone.

I just ordered a set off Amazon as well. For 50 bucks. Can’t go wrong. ;-)
