Looking for more head room. Could you not put in a different seat(s)? Convertible has infinite head room.

I'm 6'5" and was looking for more headroom. I measured the distance from the headliner to the lowest point of the seat (where your but goes) on both the hardback sport seat and sport bucket. In their lowest position they are exactly the same distance to the headliner. Interestingly, the front of the seat to the headliner is actually higher off the floor in the sport bucket. Drivers must just feel lower because of the high sides to the bucket.

So that is not an option for OP if he wants more head room.

Edit: There certainly may be aftermarket options though.

Might be a good idea to ask those who have done it for racing purposes. A lot of track enthusiasts, who do it often enough to have a dedicated race car, will remove the sunroof for weight reduction and safety purposes. Good luck!

All of our beauties came with sunroofs... we eliminated them all including our World's most powerful M96 engine 911.

I found a 997tt sunroof delete car. How would I know if it were factory or not? Obviously if it has no paint work? Any other way? How can you tell if it's a Euro car? Would there be a sunroof delete code on the build sheet? On my way now to look at it. Any help would be great.

They should make it an option. Taller people, especially those that track their Porsches and wearing a helmet would have problems.

This thread does make me wonder:
1) would the carrera classic roof give one anymore headroom
and
2) would it even be possible to get this roof??

Porsche will only sell that roof (and other unique parts) to current Sport Classic owners,,.

As noted above, all US cars came with sunroof, no "sunroof delete" option was available. I recall reading this was due to the preponderance of orders for sunroof equipped cars vs. cost of crash testing.

If the 997TT you're looking at has no sunroof, it's aftermarket or non-US.

My problem with the sunroof is that it makes way too much noise to leave open while driving. That is unless you are looking for a parking space. If it were a better design I'd actually open it.
