I had that pleasure my first time on a track with my 930. 115 mph approaching a wide, but hard right hander and my foot slipped off the brake using the roll method. I had to get back on hard and locked all 4 wheels (993TT big reds) and opted to keep it straight and go off. Thank goodness for a very big runoff area.

I've since upgraded to Rennline pedals and now use traditional heel-toe.

The 997.2 throttle is so light I've had a hard time mastering either method, usually revving too much to smoothly match the downshift. Darn, I'll just have to keep practicing.

Default Rennline Pedals for heel toe

I installed the Rennline gas pedal to allow for heel toeing on the street. The Porsche pedal is just set too far back. I roll my foot over.

See my install post with pictures here:

https://rennlist.com/forums/997-foru...gas-pedal.html

I got 197K miles on my Boxster S clutch when the engine blew and killed the car. I don't know how long the clutch would have lasted. I attribute its longevity purely to my rev matching.... I rev match via heel toeing 100% of my downshifts.

Peace

I found it tricky too and if I don't think about it, I spin it up way to high. Your in good company.

I attribute this to the DFI. Of course it is hard to tell really, as there is so much between the pedal and any actual engine activity.

I am one of the types of guys who never knew what heel toe was but loved driving manual cars. I am still "perfecting" it but I prefer the classic style. I am tall and big (6'1" 215lbs) and my legs barely fit (looking to get a steering wheel that comes out further so I can push my seat back further for track days!) but I actually tried over and over and finally got the classic method down much easier than rolling. I also brake much harder and for shorter durations on the street.

I think sport chrono would help too for those that have to push the seat back a bit to fit in the "leg compartment". Allows you to apply less gas pedal pressure and get more of a blip.

I don't have sport chrono but i'm going to have it retrofit. I have the package but dealers are all charging $300.00. Highway robbery. And indies won't do it.

I always thought heel and toe meant keep your heel on the floorboard about midway between the gas and brake, and use your toe on both by swiveling your ankle left and right. Guess I should've asked someone

For those who can't rev match…..the 991 in sport plus mode automatically rev matches.

I think she's speed shifting, and looks great doing it I might add.

Spring has sprung. No more boots in the car. This should improve the heel toe-ing.
For those above who can't seem to get it down.
35 years of experience...still screw it up sometimes.
Practice until I die. All smiles.

I find the brake sits too high (or the gas too low) for using heel/toe on the street. Has anyone found a solution to this? Is lowering the brake slightly possible?

I disagree, Porsche is the first car that I could properly heel-toe on, works best under hard braking where you foot is lower/closer to gas.

Yes, you raise the gas pedal. See my post above. The guys at Rennline noted to me that this is the number one reason folks purchase their pedals (at least at the time). The pedal is adjustable and can be raised, canted, and rocked via three screws.

For the track, I remove the pedal as track braking pressures are enough to align the brake-gas pedal system. I haven't tracked my C2S yet, but it appears to be similar in setup to my Boxster where I removed the pedal for the track and used it 100% of the time for the street. This equalized the system to allow me to heel toe 100% of the time.

Peace
