Default GTS: adding an aerokit?

Has anyone ever added an aerokit to a GTS? Anyone know associated typical cost/what needs to be done. Value added or detracted?

We offer the GTS Aerokit on our website here:

http://www.suncoastparts.com/product/997AK044.html

The parts will need to be painted and installed locally. A body shop or your dealership should be able to give you a fairly accurate quote with paint work included.

I cannot give much info on value being added, I suppose if the right buyer came along..

Please let us know if we can help you out.

Not the Aero kit, but I am doing the 997.2 GT3 front bumper right now. I like the look of it a bit better than the Aero kit, although at first glance they are pretty close.

Aerokit

GT3 997.1

GT3 RS 997.2

Here is a thread where some people helped me out with part numbers needed for the conversion.

https://rennlist.com/forums/997-foru...997-1-c4s.html

I dont know how much extra the GT3 kit is over the Aerokit, but if it were my money I would go GT3 997.2.

Ill probably just leave the rear stock with a TechArt diffuser. I like the 997.1 rear just as much as the GT3.

As far as value on resale, I would say if you keep everything OEM, then it can only add to value. If you go with an aftermarket pieces, then I still think it should add value, but also might rule out some of your potential buyers who only like OEM stuff.

In any case, keep the original body parts if you can. It is not a huge job to swap the front back to stock, and then you can sell the Aerokit/GT3 pieces seperately. Now, if you go GT3 rear and change to a center exhaust, then that's another story.

Is that kit OEM or an aftermarket copy? Just wondering for fitting purposes.

isn't aerokit on a gts just a different front lip + rear decklid+spoiler? if so i think it would have perhaps a little value added to a gts is sold via private sale.... to the right buyer of course. i can't see it hurting value as these are genuinely oem upgrades.

but from what i've seen you are almost always better off reverting to stock and selling the 'oem add-ons' separately.

997 and 997 gts have different front bumper

the 997 GTS front bumper is the same as the aerokit, sports classic and speedster bumpers. Only the lip is different.

Very easy to change lips on those

As I understand it, yes. The GTS front lip is replaced with the Aero lip and the rear deck lid is replaced with the double wing lid. The GTS comes from the factory with side skirts already installed so you save about a grand from Suncoast there as they offer a GTS specific option that eliminates the side skirts from the kit.

I agree you could probably get more money reverting to stock and selling the oem add-ons separately.

To add to OPs question. Suncoast would charge about $300 to ship to Florida (not sure of your exact location) but you'll need to call for exact pricing. AND they charge sales tax in Florida. So tack on 6%.

Just getting it to your home will set you back a little over $5k. You can save if you can ship it to someone in a nearby state to mitigate the sales tax burden. Then you'll need to have it all painted to match your car (L041 Black right?) that will set you back about another $500. Installation? Maybe another couple hundred if not DIY.

All said and done you should factor in about $6k brand spanking new from the shopping cart to your car. Will it add $6k to your car's value? I would argue all day that it would not. It would add very little to a dealer trade in (if anything) and maybe a couple grand to the right private buyer. Though it does provide some function benefits it is mostly a vanity kit. Those I know who track their 997's opt for the cheaper, more functional Cup Lip and a more functional and adjustable rear deck spoiler.

Ergo, I would remove it and sell it separately when selling your car.

Just my 2c but hope that helps.

but the user is asking aerokit on GTS, not careera... the gts has the same bumper as aerokit, only with a black plastic lip spoiler...

personally i think gts is the nicest looking and most timeless... 997.1 gt3 stylign is looking dated now (same with 997.1 styling) and the 997.2 gt3 rs looks a little too hardcore (not timeless) for my taste.
