Although I'm still using the original clear (now slightly yellow) stone guards, when I installed my RUF rear bumper, I applied and custom cut a strip of thick carbon fiber vinyl on the inner bumper area behind the rear wheel to prevent the paint blasting that usually happens there. Virtually unnoticeable in the dark wheel well unless looking for it and has protected my bumper paint nicely. I've attached a couple pics, but to me all they really do is confirm that it's "virtually unnoticeable" - I can go shoot a couple with a flash that might highlight them better than these existing photos I had, if anyone is interested.
These are carbon fiber magnetic...saw the comment about them flying off during spirited driving, but these are good to 142mph on California Speedway by yours truly. $75/set.....sorry about the sideways picture but this is from my iPhone.
It is advisable to remove them every couple of drives to clean the dirt that gets caught around the edges and wash off the dirt that gets on the stone guards.
I will try to grab one later. With the atlas it's really hard to see. My exhaust tips are black as is my front lip spoiler. Hard to tell in pics or in person. It definately looks better than clear at least on my car with the other black pieces
Were you every able to grab a pic of the black stone guard on your atlas 997 @little green?
