Default Post Your Longest Battery Life

Only if over six years please.

Why six? I chose mine as the benchmark for this. I am trying to figure out if I should replace my battery as a precaution or not. Mine?

Six years, three month original battery 2009 C2S (dec 2008 build) with 74K miles.

Still appears strong. I think I had over seven years from my original 2000 Boxster S battery.

Peace

Check the numbers embossed on the top of the negative terminal - that will tell you the date of the battery - I believe the sequence is wwyy.

We all live in different climates and have different driving parameters affecting battery life so even if there are people who have gone 10 years on a battery there's nothing in that to predict the fate of yours. Replacing the battery is one of the least expensive maintenance things on these cars. Personally I do mine every 4 years simply because I prefer spending a few extra bucks over the life of the car and not have to deal with the inconvenience of getting stuck with a dead battery.

I bought my CPO '05 C2S (December '04 build) in '11 and replaced it in the summer of '12 so 7 years.
All service records and the date code on the battery showed it to be the original so no complaints.

6.5 years. Does that count as over 6 years.

My advice. Replace it before you get stuck with it. It will not last much longer and they die at all the wrong places (and time).

Not in a Porsche, but I bought a BMW 325ci new at the start of 2001 and sold it in June 2014 and it still had its original battery- 13 1/2 years and it was still going strong.
I only had to charge it once in that time.

Hook it up to a battery tender and it will last forever.

That is what I do, if I don't drive it for two weeks or longer, I connect it to a battery tender.

Replaced at just over 6 years (my fault for letting it sit for 5 months).

Years/time is almost meaningless vs number/duration of "cranks".
