Default Well, looks like my battery failed

'06 Cab, nothing left on but car wouldn't crank. Thankfully I had the juice to pop the frunk and I have an emergency start kit, question is should I just get a new battery?

Assuming so, what's the recommended battery to go with?

Follow-up, anyone use a Costco (Kirkland) battery in their cars. I've had really good luck with them in my other cars and their now BS warantee beats the better brands.

Get a new battery - Wal-Mart or Interstate (size H7) are good choices with good warranties and not too expensive.

Only 3 year free replacement then pro-rata to year 5...still better than the Porsche warranty.

Well, guess I was lucky to be able to pop the frunk. Guess I should go ahead and get the battery tender now.

ETA....Guess I'm not suprise do, last battery from records was in '10 and we've had strange weather the last few days. Yesterday and the day before were pushing 80, today we barely got to 50....perfect weather to dump a battery.

Walmart or Interstate H7 as stated. Same fit as stock, better warranty, and much cheaper.

I use an Optima 35R. R has the posts reversed to line up with the 997 cable configuration. Optima is a sealed unit so no need for a vent hose. It also allowed me to free enough space to mount the external compressor for my Cargraphic AirLift.

I have them in both my 997s, 914, 928.my truck, & SUV. 3 year full replacement warranty, 5 year pro-rated.

Right, 34R - fat fingers on phone. Thanks for the correction. Here's a photo of the 34R installed, along with the AirLift compressor & control box. With this setup, all the frunk trim plastic fits as it should and looks stock.

How do you fasten the Optima in place? What is the hardware you use?

I used the same edge the regular battery slides under and then on tube other side put a bolt into the hole further away to give the metal hold down a stop, then enlarged the hole in the stock metal hold down so the bolt could go through it on a different angle than normal, put a fender washer over the hold down bolt. Then, when putting it together, put the far away bolt in first, put the edge of the metal hold down under the head of that bolt, then tighten down the bolt through the hold down and then the 2nd bolt. Rock solid.

If you blow-up the photo in my post, you can see this arrangement now that it's been explained.
