sweet collection. Interested in comparison between 997 and the Evora. I considered Evora before selecting my GTS.. but I'm not going to be able to get rid of the desire to own a Lotus.

Dude, sweet car collection, but your garage is neater than my living room .... where's all the junk that us mere mortals stash in the same space as our cars (bikes, water skis, snow blower, gardening tools, kids' crap, snow tires, firewood, etc...)? I'm humbled by your ability to maintain order in your garage. In the immortal words of Wayne & Garth: "We're not worthy!"

I could write a book on the topic as it is something that I have given lots of thought to since the cars are so similar in some ways. It is more comparable to a Cayman than a 911 imo. It is much more exotic than the 911 and driving it is much more of an event. That can be both good and bad depending on your preferences. As with any exotic looking car you have lots more people driving crazy around you trying to look at the car, trying to take cell phone pictures, etc. It also feels every bit as handbuilt as it really is. Having a handbuilt, limited production car is pretty neat until things stop working. The engine, a Toyota sourced v6, is bulletproof. However, everything else can be a challenge sometime. The car has a lot more "character" or "quirks" than the Porsche which is a nice way of saying that it does weird stuff or acts up for no reason. For instance, recently all of the door locks, the trunk, and the glovebox stopped working. Turned out to be a blown fuse but I have no idea why it blew. Likewise, I drove it today and noticed that the speedometer, upon shutting the car off, rested at 10 mph instead of 0. This will make it read 10 mph fast next time I drive it until it is restarted again. I have had a ton of very small stuff fixed under warranty. In modern Lotuses, the trim pieces still have a tendency to fall off and stuff like that but the mechanicals tend to be quite robust since they learned to just buy them from someone else (Toyota).

However, the driving experience is sublime and very Lotus like. It does not feel as buttoned down or planted as the 911 but it does feel much more light and delicate. The steering feel and suspension tuning is better than the 911 which is high praise because the 911 is excellent in that arena. It dances around in ways that only a midengined can, unlike the very unique dynamic that the rear engined 911 offers. The IPS transmission in the Lotus is light years behind the PDK in the 911. Likewise, the manual gearbox in the Lotus lacks the polish of the 911 manual gearbox. The Lotus is rare enough that you don't see yourself coming and going all the time like you do in a 911.

I could write for days about the differences but don't want to bore anyone. I will be happy to answer any specific questions. I love the Lotus and the Porsche, as well as the Alfa Romeo, as each has its different strengths that make each best suited to different circumstances. I am blessed to own them.

Thank you. Most of that is attributable to my wife as home design is her hobby just like mine is cars. She is also a neat freak. We have a different garage where others cars live and where we keep all of the "junk" as you refer to it so we are able to enjoy these cars in a pristine (as much as a garage can be) environment. I enjoy the sight of the cars so much more if there is little else to detract from them.

2016 A6 for my all weather commuter. Went with the 2.0t which has been better than expected, but still laggy. Wife has the Ram 2500 Longhorn (uses it for the horses and her business). I give her crap that her truck cost us more than the Porsche!
