Default Adding Sport Chrono?

I have an S model car and like the look of the chrono on the dash. I actually thought all S models came with chrono, but apparently not.

Anyway, is there an option to add the chrono aftermarket? I didn't see it on the Suncoast website. Saw a few folks adding the sport button and software, but I'm more interested in the look on the dash.

Thanks,

While I suppose anything is possible, that might be an expensive project. Just the sport button is over $1000. You'd need the timer, wire harness, bracket, and probably a re-code of the correct module. I also suspect you would need to pull the dash, which isn't quick or easy. Lots of money for a pretty gimmicky feature.

I brought it up at my local dealership when I had sport mode retrofitted in my car and even they disregarded it like no way you'll want to do that it would be way too expensive.

It is only worth it if you have an S and PDK, for sport and sport+ mode. unless you can add those features without the dash wart, which is useless.

And in my case, would love to get rid of the "wart" on the dash. Love the functionality of the Sport Chrono Plus package, especially with PDK, but really dislike the timer. Frankly, that dislike is much reduced in the months since I bought the car. Just don't notice it as I did.

I'd trade dashboards with you.

If you like the look of the wart, maybe you could mount a battery operated clock or a compass or something on the dash that you might actually use.

You can add it without the Chrono (wart).

Don't take this as a recommendation, but I happened to see a leather dash from a Turbo with the sport chrono opening just appear on eBay at : http://www.ebay.com/itm/Porsche-997-...-/281583835795. You can check parts sites to see if the part number is the same between a 997.1 and .2, but I took a quick glance and it seemed to be a match to me.

It isn't cheap at $1800, but it is close to half of the new price. Even if you did this, you would still need to buy the wart and the clock, and even then I don't know if your car will even have the wiring for it.

I'd guess that we all end up with things we wish our car had and doesn't, this would probably be best to be one of those for you. Otherwise you might end up paying more than if you had just sold your car and bought another with the options you want.

And welcome to the Texas Porsche crowd. You have a beautiful car! Love that Targa inside-shot you included.

Thanks. I can live without the wart, but a simple clock option would be nice.

Not sure if you realize since you don't have one for reference, the sport chrono face on the dash is purely a stopwatch and does not function as a clock. It is only lit and active when the timer is actively in use, it is dark at all other times.

PIWIS (and maybe Durametric Pro) can turn on Chrono light all the time. Also, did the 991 change so the "wart" doubles as a clock too?

I like the wart but didn't know it goes dark. I'd be fine with a clock only option that uses an external battery and requires no dash modification.

Damn I wish I could have an analog clock instead of the chrono wart .

Who knows, there might be a day when someone makes the new clock/chrono available for plug and play with our cars. It would be much more functional as a clock.
