The CA vapor recovery system is a nuisance and I doubt it is worth the effort, but that's what we have to live with. Try (i) aligning the nozzle plane longitudinally with the car, or (ii) 180deg from its natural position, i.e., rotated pointing away to the side of the car. The first approach works most of the time. Either approach needs constant hand holding.

I had this problem too. I forced the tank to fill by continuing to click the lever until it was full. I have been able to fill it normally and completely ever since.

Not a good idea to overfill as it may ruin the vapor re-circulation system, another eco gizmo with minimal benefits.

+ 1. I found a pump at the local Chevron that works, one pump out of many. When I'm out of town I accept that a fill up might only be 3/4 of a tank.

I wind up rotating the nozzle (default is typically with handle at 12 o'clock) to toward the 3 o'clock position.

Seems to works better that way.

There is an issue with many of the 996 cars with respect to that issue of it backing up when filling.

There's a 76 station on one side of the street that never gives me issue and a Chevron on the other that is a gamble. Same pump seems fine one day and then a 3/4 fill the next. Twisting the nozzle does work sometimes but not always.I don't notice any major design differences between the two Distributers.

I always pump with the nozzle upside down. Been doing it that way for the last four years on two different 911s.
