It might be this 997-201-944-00, not too sure

I just called up my service advisor, he told me to come in and he put this ring on.

No more click.

Give your service advisor a call.

This sounds like the answer but why in the first place?

Yes, this. My wife had the same problem here in Northern California until the dealer installed this. Now, no worries. Full tank at the pump.

California has extra-strict requirements regarding vapor loss and recovery.

Have you lived here long? If not get used to such matters. (Such as winter gas which cuts mileage down by about 5-10% depending on your engine.)

But you're not getting a full tank in that mode -- probably 15-20% less.

Also play with the fill rate. I've seen problems when the handle on the pump is pulled all the way open to the max setting. Try setting it to the "half speed" flow setting. It will take longer to fill the tank of course but the pump full sensor is less likely to trip.

With the switchover between summer and winter gas we have semi-annual shortages of fuel with spikes in the price in Cali. We go through cycles of sub par fuel.

I've learned to buy my yard tool gas in quart sized cans at Home Depot so those engines will keep running without my needing to tear them apart. About $25 a gallon! You adapt ...

I'm heading past Samuel P Taylor State Park and back over Mt. Tam tomorrow as a scenic route to the Porsche dealer for one of those rings. I'm curious to see how well that works!

Interesting how excited one gets from the smallest of things. I can't wait to go get one of these adapters. Have been living with this since I got the car and was willing to wrestle with the hose, but if I don't have to I am thrilled.

Porsche is selling this for $7 so they probably get it for $2....kind of makes you wonder why they don't just voluntarily put one in every CA sold Porsche.

My wife's service adviser had his tech pop one on. No charge (of course the total 30K-mile service including new clutch was $3K!)

I think the problem on the 997 is not the vapour gas alone. As mentioned before in this thread - the angle if the pipe is also a problem. I also have no issue if I turn the handle. For me, this has been the main issue. I also rotate the handle to make it work
