anybody know this car?
I'm looking seriously at an Atlas grey/Terracotta '07 targa 4s located in Florida. Its nicely loaded, 29k miles. Seller is asking $57k. Anyone familiar with this car? Price seems just a bit steep, however, it is a nice color combo and seems to be in very good condition.
On another note, where else does one go looking other than the obvious places (auto trader, cars.com, cargurus.com, eBay, craigslist...etc.) anyplace I'm missing? Thanks!

The Targas grab a little premium because they are generally "rare" and thus difficult to get your hands on at fire sale prices, but don't let the price scare you from making a reasonable or fair offer. Targas do also sit sometimes because they have a niche audience, (i like to think it's guys who like convertibles year round but who also have wives who are generally cold, but that's just me...)
The hatchback is a great plus too.

They're certainly rare and command a premium but this car is probably a little over priced. I have an 08 Targa 4 tiptronic with 40k miles. Atlas gray on black which I'm now considering selling. I figure my car is probably worth $48k on the private market.
If yours is worth $48k doesn't the 10k fewer miles and "s" designation account for the difference? Possibly if it is manual too...?
I dont think the S designation makes a $10k difference. The model year and miles are probably a wash vs mine. That car should be closer to $53k not $57k. While I generally dont take KBB as gospel, it shows retail to be $53k on that and about $50k on mine.
The Nordic Gold one by me has 23k and they're asking $55,900 and balked at an offer for 50 (or at least that's what the dealer said).
I think because of the general rarity of the Targas they can pull the premiums but they also tend to sit. I'm scratching my head on this one, as it was traded for a new M4 (about 70k) so I KNOW the dealer has room to move on this car, but he also has patience apparently.
Atlas is a great color and I would love one in that color, but the terracotta is a tough one for me. I like it to look at but don't think it would be my personal style.
I say if you love the car and it checks out, just do it and start sharing some pics!

I've been looking at the Nordic Gold one at Sonnen BMW. I got them down to $53k. And they were going to give me $20k for my '07 650i convertible....so far I've passed because I just don't think I'll be able to live with the manual transmission as my daily driver which consists of lots of small city driving...sadly I think I need to go for the auto...the Nordic Gold is an awesome color though!
Matt thats good news, i am taking that car to S-Car-Go in the morning for a PPI. They were acting pretty firm on the price. Took it out again for a few hours on Sunday. Would you PM me any thoughts or insight?
I totally understand about the stick in traffic, stop & go gets really old. Fortunately I can walk to work so the shifter doesn't bum me out at all. It's just about changing from a cabriolet to a kind of "hard top"… But I really do like the car. We'll see.
They were telling me that the original owner traded it in for a new M4 and that they didn't have any room to move on the price, but a new M4 is like 68 grand and they're asking 55,800 so obviously there's some room to move on the price. I would love to find out what the original owner got for it in trade!

I talked to my salesperson at my local BMW dealer and she told me that they probably didn't have much wiggle room on that car. The guy I was talking to at Sonnen kept telling me that I needed to act fast as there were a lot of people looking at this car. Obviously not that many as its been for sale for awhile. I think he offered me $53,500....good luck!
Thanks Matt, yes i believe there is always a lot of "interest" when these cars appear on the lots, but when the salesmen say so I have an automatic response: i shake a set of invisible dice in my hand, real low - (like by my waist), and when they appear to catch my drift I say, "Well it's a gamble you know? You like gamblin?!" And then I throw the dice. Lol
Anyway, I'm pretty sure this car will check out. Aside from a few things, (mismatched tires, some weird leather issue around dash airbag, and on rear seat, a few tiny dings) the car seems aces. I would want to swap all the hotrod bits over from my C2s and get that tint off the windows. So in the end it may be high 50's for me anyway...
Interestingly (sacriledge I know) I don't mind the orange side markers on the "gold" car.
So BACK TO TOPIC: OP, what did you decide? Are you a proud new owner yet? Did VWBabe's red one appeal?

Historically, the "S" cars are priced $10k higher. The car also has 10k less miles which prices around $2500. The value will be less once the car reaches 50k, so the premium between 55k miles and 65k miles is smaller.
Haven't pulled the trigger yet, I have two cars for sale. My '07 650i and my '00 M Coupe...would like to sell either one before making a purchase. Not familiar with the red one? Where is it listed?

Interesting youre coming from an M Coupe history, I had an M Roadie before the C2S. (SNR727 on Bimmerforums - check out my thread "Another Woman" for a laugh)
The red one I believe is in Florida, the woman who owns it posted I guess on 6speed. I thought it was here, but it could be in the "thinking of giving up on my search" thread over there - also Targa based.
"Orangie" came back from PPI with a few (relatively) minor things to address, going to try and work on that tomorrow once my Indie gets the numbers & details to me. Maybe you want a triple grey C2S cab instead?
