Boat costs (purchase, maintenance, repair) are good for calibration and make the P car costs seem delightfully reasonable

Usually people that say "the best thing about a boat is selling it" have never actually owned a boat or just don't enjoy boating. You're right, it makes Porsche ownership seem inexpensive in comparison but I too would probably give up the 911 before the boat.

One of the belts in his pic is broken. I hope that's not the reason he replaced them.

Probably cut it accidentally as he was intentionally cutting the frame to access the belt.

I bet that Canadian goat bit it. Or was it the mechanic that was Canadian?

Do the goats eat rubber though? I know rodents do but do goats like to gnaw on that kind of thing? I'm trying to figure this stuff out but I suppose a PPI might reveal?

I don't know what you guys are talking about. Bought a Malibu WakeSetter brand new fully loaded in 2006 - 400 HP Hammerhead engine, full ballast system, power and heated driver's seat, etc - and it's been nothing but awesome. Tune-up, oil change, and waxing every spring, cooling system impeller every other year. It takes 1 weekend each spring to get it ready for the season and half a day every fall to wintereize it and put it back in the garage. In the 8 years I've had it, I replaced one ballast tank pump and one hydrofoill motor, each a 30 minute job. I'm a lake boater though - maybe salt-water boating is a different story.

Great way to get the family and friends together, get some exercise, and I spend fewer hours taking care of it than I do the P-cars - although a lot of the P-car time is due to mods

The saying goes "there are two memorable days of owning a Ferrari, the day you buy and the day you sell....selling is much more pleasurable".

Couldn't agree more.
they're definitely more to service and do regular maintenance on then a p-car, and the new ones are less and less to service.

i.e a 355 requires an engine out service, but a 360 does not - but requires belts -- which a 430 does not (it has a timing chain)...and so on

...but of course the newer ones cost more to buy..

Our Porsche's are great cars -- but a Ferrari is like no other car -- they are amazing I recommend experiencing a Ferrari to any fellow gear head that has the opportunity -- at least once before it's all over
