Default Just picked up a 997.1...

What mods should I do first?

2006 997.1 C2 cab.

I'm thinking clear side markers, spacers, LED turn signals?
I have the 19" lobster claw wheels.

What else?

The first mod, above all others without question - is to post pictures.

I am in similar boat as you with a 2006 997S.

The clear sidemarkers are definitely on my to-do list, as is replacing my lobster fork rims.

My exhaust has the gundo hack in it and is something you may consider if you find yourself wanting to hear more of the flat 6 rip as you drive around.

Any pics of your car or more detailed info like mileage? Might help people to have suggestions.

I like the lobsters. They look great on your 2006

Leave the stock wheels. They look awesome.

Best mods I did were spacers 7mm/15mm to give a wider stance. Deviated seatbelts (red, yellow, or silver) and clearlight signals. Done.

Best bang for your buck is clear side markers and Fister sport mufflers.

Default Side markers would be my suggestion

IMO it really cleans up the look and gets to Euro spec. I'm looking at LED front/rear now myself to update the look but have no advise on which ones, seems people have had good experiance with the Chinese knock off stuff from eBay.

A BT/iPod/iPhone module is a good idea if you have the BOSE MOST system. If not, a Alpine aftermarket system is better to begin with.

Congrats on your new ride. I just picked up my 2006 997 Coupe about 2 months ago. I have added clear side markers as everyone has suggested as well as some new mats. Currently the car is in the shop having the following done:

Numeric Racing Shifter and Cables
H&R Springs / Alignment
Fister Mufflers

My next mod will be a set of lobsters to replace the 18 inch 5 spokes that came with the car.

Have fun!

Pics:

Miles: 48xxx
Year: 2006
5-speed auto with no sport mode.. (don't care to row my own gears)
Options: 19" lobster claws, Bose, PCM 2.1 (stuck cd and broken cd changer..),
comfort heated seats, pcm, multifunction base wheel (ugly and thin)

Not sure what of the above is standard so I included everything.

Reminds me of my first cab, great choice!

- As you mentioned, and others have as well, go with clear side markers.
- If you want better engine sound, consider an exhaust upgrade.
- To solve your music dilemma, I would get the Dension 500 or similar. Enables BT streaming of both music and phone.
- You can replace the steering wheel by checking the options at Suncoast Parts.
- You can check out previous car in my photos, which will give you some additional options for upgrades. For example, I opted for the Sport Classic wheels that I preferred over the stock ones.

Best of luck, great car!

On top of the hardware mods, like the clear side marker, if you can rent/borrow a Durametric Pro you can change that clear side marker from being a running light to a turn signal so it doesn't glow orange all the time when lit and gives improved functionality as a turn signal visible from the side. I was fortunate that another forum member was kind enough to lend me theirs but I won't share his name so he won't be deluged with requests. There are places on eBay that rent them but it is still a bit pricey that way. (Warning: Be careful changing stuff if you aren't sure what it is, you can break things).

I also enabled the window up/down feature on a long button press for the key fob lock/unlock and disabled the requirement for that the brake be pressed to start the car (it is a PDK, I wouldn't do this with a manual tranny). Cheap mods if you can borrow a cable somewhere.
