Default 6 Piston Yellow's Need help

Hi Guys,

i need some help on this

http://www.suncoastparts.com/product...=997sbrakekits

suncoast sells a 350mm upgrade, you can select the yellow calipers.

i am of the knowledge that the 380mm yellows on the GT2/3 do not work on our mcpherson struts.

i was baffled that sunocast sold a kit with the big yellows - news to me is that the kit they sell is specific to cayman, 911 and boxster with pccbs.

can someone tell me the part number off their caliper and confirm their rotors are 350mm pccbs or are they 380 also?

i am curious if i can run a 380mm aftermaket two piece rotor with turbo offsets to make them work.

thanks

...sigh...seems to be a popular mod lately that I've posted on quite a few times....so here goes again ;-)

The 6 piston calipers are direct bolt on to a Carrera upright if you use Turbo 350mm rotors. The Turbo rotors have the proper offset rotor hat because Turbo and Carrera S uprights are the same.

This is THE SAME EXACT package that BGB Motorsports and Rum Bum Racing used to WIN Rolex GT Championships! I spoke at length with John over at BGB about this and did this mod to my GTS 2 years ago. I've attend Rolex races and see 997 Porsches use this same package race after race...it's proven and works. It's been a wonderful mod at the track.

If you really think you need 380mm rotors..then you will need to change out the uprights to GT3 uprights and then you will also need to change out the coil overs too to something like Bilstein B16 Damptronics, JRZ, Ohlins, Moton and so forth. You will also need different sway bar drop links too. While you are at it you might as well throw on GT3 Lower Control Arms or RSS lower Control arms with solid thrust bushings and mono ball ends. Don't forget to make the rear solid too with new rear sub frame solid bushings like GT3's have and solid rear control arms and dog bones.

i only want the 6 pistons as i cannot feel the brake modulation with the 4 pots.

if i can find a cheap set of calipers i'm doing it!

there is a brembo gt 380mm option.. i have no idea how they make that work.

I tracked 4 piston 997S cars for 7 years and always could modulate the brakes. Of course had to brake a heck of a lot harder with 4 piston calipers on 330mm rotors. The 6 piston 350mm pkg makes it easier plus better braking, less pressure and better cooling. You're on the correct track with this pkg.

There are used GT3 6 pistons around...just call performance shops and ask. Try Viper Bob here on these forums. He manages Vortex Performance in Tampa. Tell him you want to do the brake pkg that he did for Mike Carter's GTS and I (Mike) sent you.

I looked into the Brembo 380 pkg and they do it with a big huge thick spacer with an odd offset look to it. I really though it over hard and talked to pro race shops and my local shop and decided against that route.

One of my 2005 997.1 C2S cars was a launch edition with 350 mm PCCBs on all 4 corners from the factory.

The part #'s for my PCCB rotors are:

DF 996.351.031.04
PF 996.351.032.04

DR 996.352.031.04
PR 996.352.032.04

Hope that helps. Also, The caliper mounting bolts are a bit longer for the PCCB calipers than they are for the big reds on a C2S (my other 997.1 has the big reds).

Yes the caliper mount bolts are different..longer than the 4 piston calipers...same thread though. Use the Turbo caliper bolts....i.e. remember Turbo upright is same as Carrera S upright...that is how to cross ref this stuff.

Have any of you guys switched our to a gt3 master cylinder too? Straight swap if so?

What makes this a "widebody" only kit?

It's not a wide body kit...that has nothing to do with the brakes....

You might be miss understanding when I say you need Turbo rotors int he front as the Turbo is a wide body car...I say this because the Turbo and Carrera S use the same upright and the offset of the rotor will be factory correct to fit in the caliper.

Widebody (as in Turbo/C4/GTS) and narrow body as in Carrera and Carrera S) are the same in the front...it's the rear end body work/wheel arches that are different is all.
