Don't mean to rain on anyone's parade here. I've had after market wheels on all three 997's I've owned so I'm with everyone who's posted on this thread. Just wanted to share a recent experience on this subject. To the point. Hang on to your stock wheels if you buy after market wheels. I had my car up for sale not too long ago and got a lot of push back on not having the stock wheels available. Deal breaker for a number of very interested buyers.
A bit mystifying to me since this thread at 57 pages ranks among the longest ever which indicates a lot of 997 owners like to switch to after market wheels. Which ones are obviously highly subjective though. Didn't think a set of flawless pretty neutral looking $7,000 Forgelines would be a deal breaker but they were. So again, hang on to your stock wheels if you itch for anything after market and if you think you may want to sell or trade the car at one time or another.

I have since switched to a Ohlins R&T coilover suspension and got a good alignment done, car sits and handles so much better, since other suspension was pretty much shot and shop said the shock/strut mounts were all on the wrong way before (caused a lot of suspension noises going over bumps etc) - but I haven't got any new pictures, but I promise I will, after I get a few carbon fiber pieces on it in Spring

I'm also the 4th owner of the car and when I got it, there were issues that I've been addressing at my own pace and "moding" when opportunity presented itself
no mater, better off keeping 997, no matter how low you price it people will still low ball

I don't doubt its a real thing. But I'm too much opposed to having a set of too-heavy and poor offset wheels sitting around in my garage and hauling them from place to place for years. If I decide to sell the car I'll source another set at the time to save the headaches. And if I can't, I will tell the complainers to go fly a kite. The OE wheels were not good. End of.
